Tigers building strong foundations

In the years since the VFL became the AFL, the game has gone from strength to strength.

Australian Football's premier competition has arguably never been in better health, especially after last week's announcement of the $1.253 billion TV rights deal.

But one thing the AFL hasn't been treated to, apart from two seasons (1995 and 2001) is Richmond as genuine powerhouses.

The Tigers enjoyed a period of dominance under Tom Hafey, winning premierships in 1967, 1969, 1973 and 1974.

Richmond added another flag to the honour roll when Tony Jewell steered them to success in the 1980 Grand Final, but that triumph has proved to be the last taste of premiership glory at Tigerland.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

All part of the new 3D forum Al.  We post articles twice and if you don your 'special' lenses then you see the words float out to greet you.  The extra touches like this are what makes OER special.
