Richmond’s steady improvement, a quarter of the way through the 2011 home-and-away season, is underlined through its increased spread of goalkickers.

Jack Riewoldt    21
Jake King         11
Dustin Martin    10
Ty Vickery          7
Matthew White   6

After round 6, 2010:
Riewoldt           13
Mitch Morton      6
Robin Nahas       5
Ben Nason          5

Riewoldt has kicked 99 goals from his past 28 games.
King has 22 from his past 11 games.

Yep that's great last year Jack kicked 78 and the next best was 15.

If Jack can get to the the same mark as last year and we can get a few blokes to somewhere around 30-40 this year and a few others averaging a goal a game then that bodes well for the future.

Add a Griffiths or Astbury at CHF to straighten us up a bit more and the further development of our list and we may see some big scores over the next few years. Halcyon days. :thumbsup

We certainly have kicked more goals than this stage last year but personally I would like to see Cotch Foley and Deledio up there too.

Also, I wonder how many scores chain assists Miller has contributed.  He isnt impacting much on the scoreboard but is impacting on the fwd structure.

Cotch would be up there if he was accurate he's kicked 3 goals 9 behinds so far

He really needs to start nailing them  :thumbsup

Yet during pregame warmup he nails them no problem. Seems one of those better on the run than when he has time to steady...

Another spread of goalkickers tonight - Jack 4, Cotch 4, Nahas 4, Vickery 3, Houli 2 and Kingy 2. Always a good sign when mids are kicking goals. When we get some momentum in games it now allows us to bang a few goals on the board quickly.

Tigers hit Jack's pot (afl)

Probably not the time to post this when we are 5 goals down  :wallywink.

Tigers hit Jack's pot
By Ben Collins
1:59 PM Sun 15 May, 2011

IN THE pre-season, Richmond coach Damien Hardwick declared his intention of developing a greater spread of goalkickers to make his team less reliant on brilliant spearhead Jack Riewoldt.

In fact, Hardwick even told the Herald Sun in March that the Tigers "couldn’t afford" for Riewoldt to match his Coleman Medal-winning effort last year of 78 goals, and, more importantly, his 32 per cent contribution to the Tigers’ scoring.

Riewoldt, who is again leading the race for the Coleman Medal, is on track for another 70-80 tally - he has 25.6 in seven games, and he was goalless in round two against St Kilda when he was concussed early - but Hardwick’s plan for a multi-dimensional forward line is coming to fruition.

The Tigers have won three in a row for just the second time since the end of the 2008 season, and it is no coincidence they are increasingly spreading the load.
It became glaringly obvious during Richmond’s stirring 49-point win over Fremantle at the MCG last week when Riewoldt kicked just four of his side’s 23 goals (a contribution of just 17.4 per cent).

In fact, Riewoldt had little influence on the contest with the Tigers boasting six multiple goalkickers, including Robin Nahas and Trent Cotchin (four apiece), Tyrone Vickery (three), Jake King and Bachar Houli (two each).

The contrast with last year (and in particular rounds 9-22, which Riewoldt dominated) is stark.

In 2010, the Tigers’ second-best goalkicker was Andrew Collins (who is now at Carlton) with just 15, followed by Ben Nason (14), Nahas (13), King (12), Mitch Morton (12) and Dustin Martin (11).

This season, Richmond has three players in the AFL’s top 17 goalkickers - Riewoldt, King (13.2) and Martin (11.4).

Riewoldt is also getting into the spirit of the Tigers’ caring and sharing style, being equal-third in the AFL for goal assists with eight (the same as midfielder Martin).

The spread of goalkickers this year is becoming more evident. We have 4 Tigers in the top 25 goalkickers. Jack heading for another 70ish goal year and then there's Kingy, Vickery and possibly Dusty on track for something in the 30s by season end and Nahas and Cotch trending towards 20+ goals this year.

After 9 games:

Jack Riewoldt    33.8   (1st in the AFL)
Jake King          17.3   (12th)
Ty Vickery         15.7   (16th)
Dustin Martin     13.4   (22nd)
Robin Nahas        9.2
Trent Cotchin      8.12
Brad Miller          6.6
Matthew White    6.1

Jack Riewoldt   36
Jake King         19
Tyrone Vickery 16
Dustin Martin   14
Robin Nahas    10.

That’s a total of 95 goals from those five leading goalscorers, compared to 52 from the top five at the same stage last year - Jack Riewoldt 29, Robin Nahas 10, Ben Nason 9, Mitch Morton 6, and Dustin Martin 3.
