Hardwick on 3aw @ 7.15pm
« on: May 11, 2011, 07:58:16 PM »
Dimma was interviewed tonight on 3aw by Gerard Healy and Dwayne Russell....

* Boys have put in some reasonable efforts in recent weeks. Work done over preseason starting to pay off.

* Always knew we could kick a winning score as we've improved our talent over past 12 months. However still letting too many easy goals through due to schoolboys errors. We've had basically 4 teenagers running around in our back 6 so hopefully in time those errors will be ironed out.

* Grimes' current nickname is "iron fist". Teaching our guys to kill the contest first. As the young guys are learning it's safety first and then as they gain experience they can start going for their marks.

* Nahas - Robin by his own admission had a disappointing 2010; didn't work hard enough. This preseason he has. Had a terrific season so far and we expect him to get even better. He's now also hitting the scoreboard which is bonus.

* Martin - discussed about being tagged during this week. We're trying to get Dusty to the stage where he's like Dane Swan and it's useless to tag him. He goes and watches Dane play to learn. In time Dusty will get better.

* Riewoldt - becoming a more all-round player and is rewarding his teammates. Addition of Brad miller has been good for that and helped educate Jack about team footy up in forward line.  Barry Hall was a good example last year. Could have won the Coleman but in one game that stood out shared about 4 goals off. Dimma jokingly said he's "pumped" Hall isn't playing this week lol.

* Bulldogs are unpredictable because they do have stars missing. We threw magnets on the board but we gave up trying to guess how they would line-up exactly.

* Membership record - terrific result and gave credit to Gary March and board for driving it.

Many people were so against us recruiting Miller last year stating his place would have been better reserved for a long shot rookie. Well if his value to the team structurally isn't obvious then this quote should more than point out his value to the squad educationally. Playing coaches/leaders are rare and to gain one for the value of our last place on the list could be immeasable in the future well after he is gone from the squad.

 Dimma's response to Hall's likley ommission! :lol With so many of there normal first liners missing it will make figuring out who to shut down and worry about more difficult but I guess it means we just have to really just concentrate on what we need to do to win the game.
