Very poor game (for the 3 qtrs I was there) by Coburg.

Sitting there today it's no surprsie they were the 2 bottom teams

MacDonald was alot better in the 3rd qtr - he is a very good kick

Tom Hislop (aka Mr Elastoplast  ;D) was the best of the RFC boys for mine.

Webberley's first qtr was average but after that he was good

Griffiths wasn't "protecting" his shoulder read wasn't worrying about it - needs a few more runs before he should be consider as he is clearly lacking match fitness but the signs were very good  :thumbsup

Good was good for the first half but dropped his efforts in the third - disappointing

And in an amazing development Gus in the 3rd actually watched the ball at the centre bounces 4 times in row  :thumbsup Miracles never cease  :rollin

Thanks WP, how did Asbury go?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Thanks WP, how did Asbury go?

Started really well and then fell away = no impact. Actually started the 3rd qtr on the bench. Just seems to be really down on confidence

did hislops form warrant a senior game?

Hislop played a Jake King type role when forward and also spent some time in the middle - a bit like Nahas

So to answer the question.

If King or Nahas weren't playing well I'd say YES Tommy deserves a game but seeing those 2 players are playing well then I reckon the answer is NO. I don't know who else he could replace

helbig is being carried at the minute...id be dropping him with a couple of things he needs to work on as in strength at the contest...he would be the obvious one but white/edwards would have designs on that spot

Tommy's FWD role todays was clearly a King type one and Jake aint going anywhere  :thumbsup

FRANKSTON won its first game of the season by upsetting Coburg Tigers by 19 points at Highgate Reserve in Craigieburn yesterday.

The competition's perennial cellar-dweller was relentless, with promising ruck prospect Russell Gabriel dominant against Richmond's Angus Graham ...

Connors & Morton didn't play. Connors is listed as injured with a "quad" & 3 weeks away

No idea what's the go with Morton - would assume he is injured too seeing he isn't playing

DerickX played on Sunday after having a very badly bruised heel that took about 10 weeks for him to get over. He & Gus rotated through the centre, he also spent about 10 minutes in the 3rd qtr in defence. I was only there until 3qtr time and I reckon in that time he had 60-70% game time. Certainly lacking match fitness and will need a few more games before he would be considered for AFL

As for "what is going on at Coburg" - simply they are not winning

Very good analysis from Sparty on PRE

The problem at Coburg this year is we are playing mostly talls Post, Gourdis, Browne or Gus, big X, Thursty, Astbury, sometimes 7 or 8 RFC KPPs
the Coburg midfield is the weakest in the VFL, the RFC mids are very late draft picks or rookies.
This is why we need our own reserves side, either that or RFC must take control of Coburg
We knew we would have a lot of talls at Coburg this year, if we had our own side or control of Coburg we would have recruited 3 or 4 experienced midfielders, instead they have brought up kids to the seniors who just can not get the ball to our tall forwards or who are getting smashed at clearances and our tall backs are getting bombarded by opposition mids, the game against BoxHill was 34 to 4 centre clearances and 73 to 26 inside 50s how would you like to be a young KPP in this side
