Tigers reminding me of the baby Bombers
« on: May 21, 2011, 05:30:19 AM »

As we are playing Essendon this week. I realized how much the young Tigers are reminding me of the baby bombers exactly 30 years ago.
Under a new coach in Sheedy... they lost their first five or so..... when on a tear and went on to win back 2 back premierships and played finals for about 9 or 10 years.
I am seeing a similar rise and future coming up for Dimma and the mighty Tiges!!!

15 straight wins coming up eh Shiner  ;).

Barry Davis put together most of the baby bombers as coach from 1978-80. Sheedy inherited that young side and turned them into a finals side in his first year and then a premiership side by 1984. One thing Sheedy did do with the list he inherited was weed out those who had been around for a few years and were playing regularly in the seniors yet who he didn't believe were good enough to play in premiership side - Max Crow, Ronny Andrews, Justin Madden and Tony Buhagiar from memory were some of them. Mark Eustice was offloaded to us  :P.
