People always talk about freeing Deledio up to play midfield. If he was such a star in the middle then that's where he would be. We've already got others who can play off half back but the coaches seem to love Lids across half back.

I do not agree with your theory. Deledio Is able to play forward or mid and do it well. The reason he js not is bcause RFC don't have the luxury of playing him on the ball. Out backline is very very young and very poor. If it wasn't for deledio played in this role and replaced by A lesser player we'd have by raped slot more often.
IMO if deledio was playing for a Geelong or collingwood with a strong back 6 he'd run riot.
How is this for a back six? Newman, Rance, Moore/Grimes/Morris as the FB line. Batch, Astbury, Houli at HB.
Deledio has played onball before when our backline was worse. He had some ripper games too...but at the same time he was never consistent for a WHOLE season. Might have won our B&F before but Dan Jackson nearly beat him
I agree, he can play midfield and forward and he will do it well. But if he was such a star in either position then that is where he would be. Deledio isn't played down back for his defensive ability, he is there because he can rack up plenty of football and provide great drive from the backline (thats not to say he doesn't do anything down there without the ball in hand, he does get his fair share of spoils in and helps out the talls by going 3rd man up at some marking contests). His use of the ball on either side of the body is very good and that's valuable down back. That's why they love him there, IMO.
