Thanks Heaps
« on: June 14, 2011, 01:12:52 AM »
Hi all,

Just want to say thanks very much for making Andy Krakouer feel welcome again back in the AFL. I'm his cousin and the support from tiger supporters means a lot. Who do I go for?? Richmond of course. Always have - always will.

Seeing Andy play AFL again is just fantastic - even though its for Collingwood. I will always be thankful for the pies giving Andy another chance at AFL - but apart from that - I still got no time for the Pies. I only watch them cos of Andy.

Dont worry - Andy still has a soft spot for Richmond and has many great memories during his time at Tigerland. He always did (and still does) have that skill and great football brain - espcially around goals. Just lacked the fitness and he was never ever lightening quick. Even he will admit that, but he makes up for it with his good decision making. He's obviously much more fitter now then he was before.

I wish he was still a Tiger, but I think it's a good choice that Dimma and the crew are doing the "youth policy" aspect.

There is plenty of talent there and give them time - they will get there.

Anyways I'm new here and just thought I would say g'day.

Go Tige's

Cheers.

Cheers RF.

I for one was someone who liked Andy and I often wonder how different things might have been given different circumstances. Perhaps he may never have gained the fitness needed at Richmond, our environment hasn't been the best for getting the best out of players for the last few years.

Romantically it would have been nice to see him back here, but realistically he's not a great fit for us at this point in time and were not the best fit for him. The scum are perfect for him.

I'm really happy for him given his second chance and how successful he's been. I'm really REALLY sorry for him that it's with the scum but I suppose you take what you can. With any luck he might get a premiership medallion out of it.

I may barrack for him in September depending on the opposition. Unlikely though given he's playing for the scum. More likely I'll take very little notice, but I will definitely make the effort to see how he went.

Give him this Tiger supporters best wishes anyway. You never know his son may end up playing for us one day.

It is not often you wish to see former players burning at other clubs, especially Collingwood! However, i genuinely hope Krak keeps going the way he is!

Thanks to all of the kinds so far. I will pass these messages on to Andy. It's great to see that he is still liked by most Richmond supporters. He was a good clubman and was well liked at the club, he got on well with everyone.

Collingwood have welcomed him with open arms. I have been down to the pies changerooms and they seem nice. Even Eddie McGuire is a good bloke - I wouldnt mind it if he was a Richmond supporter - he would promote Richmond like there is no tomorrow. He has promoted Collingwood very well.

I'm going over to Melbourne when Collingwood play Carlton.

You know it was really strange for me to see Andy run out against Richmond in round 4 when Richmond played Collingwood, I didn't know who to go for - it was really hard. He had a quiet game, he was dropped for the Anzac match but came in against the Bulldogs a week later and has done well since.

He's told me that the game is much quicker - it has taken him time to adjust. I think he is still adjusting but is coping with it well. With the game being as quick as it is now - it probably doesnt suit him at times as he is not quick. I am quicker than him - he runs more like a stayer in the Melbourne Cup.

But when it comes to reading the game, decison making - he is brilliant at it. I don't want to be seen as biased but out of the indigenous boys in the AFL - if Andy was to have a foot race over 100m - he would lose easily. But in front of goal in a tight congested space he will do well. I reckon he is more skillful than most of the indigenous boys going around. The only player that is similiar to Andy is Cyril Rioli, they have a similiar style.

I reckon Andy is more of an old fashioned small forward - wont kick bags of 4 or 5 or more (even though he's kicked 5 goals twice) but will kick 2, 3 or 4 goals a game, with the odd game being a day out.

Andy certainly has a gift - and hopefully he continues to do well at Collingwood. In terms of the "right fit" at Richmond, he would slot in somewhere - but who would you kick out? Plus Richmond are doing a youth policy - which will benefit them in the long run.

He could of played for West Coast but but they couldnt gurantee him a game plus Collingwood were quicker to get him. Freo showed no interest in him at all. North Melbourne were not interested either.

I think its important to say that Richmond delisted Andy cos of the court case - not cos of poor form. However 2007 wasn't a good one for Andy in terms of form. That court case really did take its toll on him mentally.

But that's all in the past now and he is enjoying his second chance. Hopefully he has a son one day and that means that son will be eligible to play for Richmond. Don't know how long Andy can keep going for. He will know when the body says "enough". For now though he is going well. I reckon he has 2-3 years left. Would be nice to see him get to 150 games, considering he spent 3 years out of the game. Up to the completion of round 12 he has played 112 games.

Go Tige's

Cheers.

I don't mind the roos. But I've always supported Richmond and when Richmond picked up Andy it was a bonus. But watching Richo play made me decide to follow Richmond. Richo is a great bloke. I used to like going down to the changerooms to meet the players. Used to get tickets from Andy to the games - not anymore now lol, I gotta buy them myself lol. But when Richmond come to Perth I always go along to Subiaco. But now when Collingwood come to Perth I will have to go and see them too. I should wear a Richmond scarf lol, that would be interesting, go down to the Collingwood changerooms with my Richmond scarf on. No I better not lol haha.

Its not easy being a supporter of a Victorian Club in Perth - the West Australian Newspapter - its all about eagle and dockers and nothing else. The Herald, The Age and others are much better.

Cheers.

Great footy family the Krakouers  :thumbsup
Do you remember that famous Nicky Winmar photo?

That was the game he played against the Pies
And I think he did it because of the feral and bigoted Pies supporters and players.
Must churn your guts to know Andy is playing with these creeps?

You've joined our ranks, so may as well ask you pertinent questions to your Aboriginality

First question:  what's it like being an Aboriginal in the 21st century?
And do you find it offensive or flattering that I'm asking this question rather than saying "what's it like being an Aussie in the 21st century"

I reckon by now I should be asking just the second question in this day and age, but there's so many questions about our Koori friends that remain to be asked, and that's just my first.

PS: I'm expecting you are Aboriginal lol

I apologise in advance if this thread gets out of hand lol, but most of us are pretty friendly!!!, others can be "naughty boys" but with good hearts, and the rest, well, best not said haha!
