Experts predict a brave new world for the AFL

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou, Geelong president Colin Carter and GWS coach Kevin Sheedy agree that in the next 21 years, the competition will include at least one, possibly two or three, international teams.

South Africa is thought the logical first venue, followed by New Zealand, and Sheedy also is keen on California.

South Africa, California now that's thinking outside the square. I can't see that happening. I could see a 3rd team in WA and a Tassie team(fingers crossed) maybe a NZ team. Other then that I don't think our game(AFL) has the huge appeal to break into other global markets IMO. But that's fine NFL has a following outside the states but you don't see the NFL pushing for international teams.
