Tiges off to Morwell next week
« on: February 19, 2005, 04:34:15 AM »
Quote
The Tigers will head to the Victorian country town of Morwell to play the first of three practice matches after being eliminated from the pre-season competition. - richmondfc.com.au

I believe we may be playing the loser of Carlton v Essendon.

Us losing last night means Tambling misses out on heading back up to Darwin to play in front of family and friends  :(.

I don't think Morwell's that far away is it - an hour or so drive?
Might mosey on down next week and have a look.

Straight down the Princess Freeway. Dandenong, Pakenham, Warragul, Moe then Morwell. Could be a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive (?).

Being a little bit tempted was having a look around and found this. I know around the met area we have been getting some rain lately what about gippsland way - hope they check the ground out first. Dont want any injuries.

Hawks threaten bush boycott

Paul Gough
Sportal
Hawthorn has threatened to boycott all future AFL practice matches played at country venues if the league does not put in place a system to measure the hardness of such grounds.

The Hawks’ were furious at the hardness of the ground at Morwell in eastern Victoria on Saturday when they played the Kangaroos in a Wizard Regional Challenge match after both clubs had been knocked out of the Wizard Home Loans Cup.

Not only have the Hawks lost Kris Barlow and Steven Greene for six weeks due to knee injuries following the match but they have also sent Nick Holland (hamstring) and Adrian Cox (foot stress fractures) for precautionary scans after both pulled up sore.

That's right Mini. Saturday, February 26  Essendon v Richmond at Morwell at 2pm.

Last year at this time we were still in the middle of the drought. Let's hope the rain has reached Morwell and soften up the turf. Last thing we need is more long-term injuries after Sarge broke his ankle.
