(Reuters) - Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation (NWSA.O) will close its tabloid News of the World after this Sunday's edition, as a result of an escalating phone hacking scandal, James Murdoch said on Thursday.

"The News of the World is in the business of holding others to account," the deputy chief operating officer of News Corporation told staff. "But it failed when it came to itself."

There dodgy journalism finally catched up with them. To bad there'll be no more cricket betting rings busted. But the damage has already been done to the Pakistanis and the ICC has been shown for doing nothing to tackle it.

They'd then have to explain how and why their lord and master was playing innocent and passing the buck for the mess onto everyone around him at the company when it all occurred under his watch  :whistle.

ps. why do all the Pom pollies stand up and the sit down quickly after every question in their parliament? It just looks weird!  ???
