Caro's report on Frawley

Just reading Caro's (she's back!  ;) ) article on Spud in The Age.

Deep down, the coach knew after that dreadful loss to the Crows that it was all over for him. The following week when he spotted all those relatives en masse, some he had not seen for years, Frawley told colleague Greg Hutchison he felt physically and mentally incapable of coaching.

I know we've moved on but by the sounds of it if we didn't go on and win the next 3 games Spud would've resigned earlier and may have even left around round 6. In hindsight we gained in the long run from Spud staying on. Instead we may got a fill-in coach and continued to live in delusion by winning a couple of pointless games towards the end of last year like we had done so many times in previous years.

It has not been easy reading about the dismal state in which Terry Wallace and Co found the football players and club he oversaw for five years but Frawley is philosophical enough to know how the promotional pre-season game is played.

Difficult to call it playing a promotional game when we're coming off a year where we finished last and had only won something like 18 out of our last 66 games. Our list was left in a pathetic state and there's no getting awat from that. Wallace hasn't held back on any punches in his comments either.

Btw good on the Club for allowing Krakouer and Spud to keep in touch. Another example of how well the Tiges handled Frawley's departure.
