what a stuffing joke of a sport that is. one day to go, but the last day is just a formaility. tradition has it that you dont overtake the leader on the last leg.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

They have been riding for 3 weeks, if you haven't got in front yet you don't deserve a chance to.

The last stage is a well deserved victory lap, and even if it wasn't there is no way a leader would lose time as the course is flat.

And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

two or three years ago evans was right on the leaders lemonaide and sars and finishing off the race much stronger, but ettiquite dictated that he could not even attempt to overtake him.

it's like not allowing a team to kick goals to win a game during time on in the last quarter.

There is nothing to stop someone attacking but it is pointless because the stage is flat and finishes with a street circuit.

No tour leader would ever lose a second on a stage like that, and to create a time gap you have to break a gap in the pelaton which is virtually impossible with a flat long finish.

Excellent effort by Cadel.  :clapping :clapping :clapping

They all know the drill about the final stage before going into it. That's why the last time trial is always treated so seriously and it provides excellent edge of the seat entertainment for the fans. Essentially the last stage is used as a kind of victory lap for the leader which they bloody well deserve if you ask me.

No one knows how much we suck onfield on the other side of the world .

Maybe he should have thrown the race for new bike parts ;D
Very droll RR  ;D

On the final day of climbing when Cadel had mechanical problems he didn't keep going with the same dud bike with failing dud parts and falling well behind the leaders. He went back to his team van as the rules allow, got a new bike and caught up with the leaders before bypassing them all the following day to become the champion ;).
