Rejigging our midfield
« on: March 01, 2005, 05:15:39 AM »
With Rodan gone for the season  :'( (unless he makes a Libba miracle comeback) who's our best bet(s) to come into the midfield and step up to help our Johnson (and Cogs?)?

I'd put Tuck in there.

Cogs, Johnson, Brown, Tuck, Raines, Krakouer, Newman, Hyde, Hartigan, Roach, Deledio, Tamblig can all be rotated through the middle.  We've got the numbers, now it's time to play as a cohesive unit.  As long as they keep persisting with the run and carry and link up style of play and just keep chipping away at getting it right despite the scoreboard and resist going back to bad habits then our midfield should be fine.  You need approx. 10 players that can rotate through the midfield and wings/flanks the entire game.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

As we are rebuilding from the ground up that's not a bad 10 for the years to come Harry. Probably still too inexperienced overall for any major impact this year but they all have a good chance to be around for a few years, develop and mould together as a unit and perfect Wallace's gameplan as you said. Tuck, Hyde and Hartigan to do the inside in and under stuff while Cogs' body is getting right.

I am more intrigued now to see if they are going to promote Foley now that Rodan's out for the 12 months.

If he can get himself fit, play some good footy for Coburg he'd be a good option in the mid-field. Tough Nutt  :thumbsup
