So let's take it a step further then.  We have often alluded to the fact that if the RFC was run by OER posters then the place would be a successful juggernaut so let's put our kahoona's on the line.  Who from our forum (and why) should fill the positions?

President
Vice President
CEO
GM Finance & Audit
GM Membership & Sponsorship
GM Media
GM Football
Recruiting Manager
Player Development Manager
Elite Performance Manager
Boxing Manager
Senior Coach
Chaplain
Bootstudder

Here's my go:

President - Gerks.  Not afraid to speak up and has some 'out there' comments that will certainly make the club stand apart from others.
Vice President - '65.  Brings a 'headmaster' type of controlling influence to the board.
CEO - Stripes.  Always upbeat, abundance of common sense and can write lengthy documents better than the rest.
GM Finance & Audit - WP.  A pillar of restraint and reason who will not spend a cent without a strong debate first.
GM Marketing, Membership & Sponsorship - Ramps. Vast experience and success in internet-based marketing.
GM Media - Jackstar.  Has all the contacts and facts to make this job his own.
GM Football - MightyTiges.  Finally gets his chance to implement his drafting and recruiting strategy.
Recruiting Manager - X.  Will cut a huge swathe through the current list and bring in true change.
Player Development Manager - Daniel.  Has a strong motivating influence that will keep the players 'up and about'.
Elite Performance Manager - Monk.  Will bring a '70s influence to the team that may see more MRP visits but will cause the team to HTFU.
Boxing Manager - Froars.  Everyone will be afraid to step in the ring against her so her students will be truly fearsome.
Senior Coach - Claw. In good form with his recent insights and observations.
Chaplain - Brackets.  Some of his sermons are life-changing in their content.
Bootstudder - WAT.  Can be relied upon to give the players little snippets from his own wealth of opinion whilst hammering in the moulded stops.

All in good fun of course!   ;D

Foley has been pretty good this year. Hardly turned it over this season at all. What's with all the hate? He's a vital part of the midfield. We need to move on Jackson, not Foley. ;D  :banghead

You couldn't possibly have X as recruitment manager, the list would be down to 17 players by Round 8!
Not to mention that he would probably start working on his super-abs again and put himself at full forward  ;D

Next year I see us getting rid of 7 players off the main list and 4 off the rookie list with 5 spots available on it.

This how I would see the list next year.

Keepers are off-limits, Trade list is who i'd shop around but keep if nothing eventuates then delist the others.

Delistees: Farmer, McGuane, Nason, Jackson, Graham, Taylor, Webberley, Contin*, Westhoff*, Hicks*, Hislop*

McGuane's kicking is a liability, Jackson or Tuck has to go i'd prefer Jacko. Webberley and Nason too small and Farmer no good.

Trade bait: Thursfield, Edwards, Connors, Morton, Tuck, Nahas, King, White, Post, Moore, Foley, Gourdis.

If we can get anything decent for these guys then go for it. Draft picks preferably. Would offer Foley for a GWS 17yo pick or a first rounder.

Keep: Deledio, Martin, Grigg, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Astbury, Houli, Newman, Rance, Vickery, Conca, Batchelor, Helbig, Browne, MacDonald,Griffiths, Derickx, Dea, Grimes.

All the trade bait bar Foley and maybe Post (if he comes on) should be gone by end of 2013 and upgraded.

That's 19 keepers with a couple of the younger ones potentially gone as well. Not great there.

19 gone in next 3 years plus any of the 2010/11 kids that are no good by end of 2013. Would wipe 7 this year. 9 or so next year. and the rest in 2013.
If Lids chooses to go GWS or FA we would likely get band 1 compo for him. Next year I feel we could/should finish last. Pick 1, 19 (priority), 22 (compo) 30(2nd round). If Lids goes we get pick 2 and 12 as well as them. And if we can get a 17yo for Foley (Crouch/Grundy) We would be adding 7 elite kids next year. If Lids stays we have 5 elite kids plus Lids. 2013 we would be a cellar dwellar as we get games into those kids possibly another 3 top 20 picks (if priorities still exist) but would hope we are moving up by then and they can develop in the reserves. 2014 we should be back up around 10-12 then 2015 finals and 2016 onwards top 4 and hopefully a premiership.

Thoughts?

I can't see us deliberately tanking in 2013 because Hardwick would get the chop if we were cellar dwellers still.  While everything out of the club says we are building slowly after 4 years you would want to see a middle rung team at the least.  I predict a normal turnover of 8 - 10 players every year from this point on with Hardwick until he either makes a premiership list or gets the boot.  Thats the same sort of number Bomber Thompson got rid of every year to build Geelong, but its also the same sort of numbers Wallace turned over too.  Wallace a few less as he wastefully recycled a few fringe players a number of times.

I also predicted when Hardwick brought in 14 in his first year that 7 would be gone after 3 years and possibly more, losing
Farmer, Nason, Taylor, Webberley, Contin*, Westhoff*, Hicks* would be 8 of the 14 gone if I remember correctly, with the Nagambie Storm leaving last year.  Which would put it on the verge of being a bad draft year if we lost any more the next year.  Note NONE of those players would be being dropped due to injury and sooner or later we will lose some of that draft year to injury.

Astbury seems injury prone so we may lose him, a pity.

I didn't say we would deliberately tank but next year i think we will struggle massively. Being very close to the bottom and another influx of young kids. Would hope by 2nd half of 2013 we are starting to get on a roll and build momentum for 2014. If it doesn't happen so be it. I don't want to see us recycling fringe players yet. Its the sort of thing that good teams do to fill gaps. We have too many gaps to cover by this process.

Hasn't Astbury just had the one injury? Correct me if im wrong. Hardly injury prone if that's the case. Just happened to be a bad one. It's a shame about Taylor could have been anything. We may have unearthed at least 5 keepers from that draft long term though (Martin, Griff, Astbury, Dea and Grimes) and would like to see Contin given a crack at it before delisting him. If he proves he's worth keeping then go for it.

Would even look at offering up Foley for Z.Clarke as we are in desperate need for a good young ruck. Can add to the midfield in next few drafts.
