Strange year.
« on: August 15, 2011, 12:25:58 PM »
Richmond have had its moments against some "good ordinary" teams in 2011.

We have had a draw with St Kilda (currently 6th)
Beaten Essendon (currently 7th)
Beaten Sydney (currently 8th)
Beaten Fremantle (currently 9th)
Beaten North Melb (currently 10th)

The terrible downside is that we lost to Port Adelaide....which is comparable to losing to Fitzroy back in 1996.
Being the first Victorian team to lose to the Gold Coast is also a very bitter pill to swallow. Seemed unthinkable back in May.

Some things never change with Richmond looking light years away from giving a top four team a run for their money.

If we didn't sell the 2 home games we'd be on 8 wins and a draw and still be in contention for the finals.

Although I wonder if we would of won yesterday had we been on 7.5 wins.We don't have a history of winning meaningful games. Yesterdays win was more like an ambush.

Wish we never sold them though. Hate selling games. Our crowds for every game after Dreamtime would have been 10,000 higher on average with those extra 1 then 2 wins on the board and alot more hope for finals. With those bigger crowds and more memberships sold I reckon would be worth more money than 2 sold games especially if we made the finals

vs top 5 teams our avg losing margin is rougly 70ish pts.
Its pretty poor however teams like melb, ess and nth who are in contention for finals births have all felt the blade too.

strange in the sense that had we nudged both PA and GC our season would be alive, shake my head though as not sure we are anywhere near finals material, we will finish 9-12 which is probably about right :shh

It's a pity. I did the ladder predictor and if we happen to win our last 3 games we'll overtake Melbourne and most likely the Bulldogs too. There's a fair chance we could finish above Freo too and finish 9th and 1 win out of the 8. There's almost no doubt we would have beaten Port and GC in Melbourne. The crowd would have got us over the line and given us 11 wins and a draw  8)

Doubt we will win again this year.
Melbourne have had our measure for a few years now. We're the perfect opponent for them to "redeem" against.
Adelaide at Footy Park we haven't beaten since 1999.
Nought will make finals if they beat us as Sydney and Freo are spluttering, stuttering and stammering.

na season is over Tucker, nothing to play for except lose our position on the draft table so i expect to win this week.

Might even put some coin on it

You'd think but Dogs play Port and the Crows play The Suns. If the results go as planned we can afford to win this week knowing that the Crows will beat us at Footy Park next week and we still hang on to our top 10 pick.
It will all hinge on our game with Naught in Round 24 given the Dees play Port also.
We can still finish 14th with 7.5 wins possibly one more. :-\
