Stripes and fans Richmond fans will have more opportunity than ever before to enjoy all the 'fun of the fair'
at the Club's new-look Family and Community Day, to be held at Punt Road, on Friday, March 18.
Gates open at 3pm, and for the next 6-7 hours, Punt Road will be buzzing, with a range of activities for the
Yellow and Black faithful to experience.
The kids will have heaps of fun from 3pm-8.30pm, in an area adjacent to the ground, with a jumping castle,
bungee run, inflatable slide, face painting and roving entertainers to keep them amused. There also will be a
junior footy clinic conducted on the field, with the help of the Tiger players.
From 4pm, a player autograph and photograph booth will be operating, enabling fans to have special access to
their Yellow and Black heroes. The player-related activities will run until just before 6pm, when the boys move
to the change-rooms to prepare for the big Probables v Possibles practice match.
At 6.30pm, following the on-field, pre-game entertainment, the presentation of the new, fully-sashed Richmond
guernseys, to the 2005 playing list, will take place. Some famous Tigers of Old will hand out the famous Yellow
and Black jumper to the current Tiger crop.
Then, at 7pm, the Probables v Possibles clash gets underway, with the full Richmond playing list going 'hammer
and tongs' over two 30-minute halves for the prize of a place in the team for the opening round match against
Geelong on Easter Sunday.
At the end of the intra-club hit-out, Tiger coach, Terry Wallace, will address the crowd, and players again
will be available for more autographs.
The function will finish with 'Plough' and players being interviewed in the Social Club.
All in all, this shapes as a great way for Richmond supporters to celebrate the launch of a new season - and a
new era for the mighty Tigers...

Q: Why did the date change?
A: There were a range of reasons . . . Firstly, the ground only became available late in the piece, through the Richmond Cricket Club, for a practice match on the Friday night. Coach Terry Wallace and the football department then felt it would great to attract as many Tiger fans as possible to a Probables v Possibles practice match at Punt Road, to enhance the atmosphere of the occasion. The Club had also received complaints from supporters because the Family Day had originally been scheduled over the Labour Day long weekend and they were going to be away.
Q: Will it still be a family-focused event?
A: Most definitely. There will be all the activities normally associated with the Club’s Family Day, plus some exciting new ones, and the intra-club practice match.
Q: Won’t there be issues with the traffic at that time on a Friday?
A: Yes, but that applies to Friday night games in Melbourne throughout the home-and-away season as well. There will be plenty of parking available (at normal rates) in Yarra Park. And, because the activities are spread over several hours, there’s no need to rush.
Q: Will we get the same access to the players given that they’ll be playing in a practice match in the evening?
A: The players will be heavily involved before their match, helping out with junior footy clinics on the ground, signing autographs and having their photos taken with fans in special booths that will be set up. After the practice match, they will sign more autographs, and then be interviewed up in the Social Club.
Q: What if we live in country regions or have work/other commitments until later that evening?
A: That’s why this Family Day will run longer than normal. The gates open at 3pm, but activities run until after 9pm. The presentation of guernseys to the 2005 playing list, for example, won’t take place until 6.30pm.
