Got nothing to celebrate. Should be disappointed they dont have another week of footy left.

Mad monday is BS
Have a heart Damo! The boys basically abstain from alcohol for most of the year so therefore should be allowed to have a mad Monday. A lot of footy trips occur during trade period so it is a last opportunity to have a drink together as a team that played that season. And besides, how many people actually thought we would play finals? Our losses against port and suns hurt us but that can be balanced out by wins we were not expected to get such as freo, swans, bombers etc. so it is reasonable finish and a pass mark for the club.

We should be striving to be the best.

The best sides in the competition are going to play footy for another few weeks.

We are not good enough to be doing that, however we are good enough to be training to work on deficiencies during that period. This could help us close the gap.

I would have the players training during the week as if they were playing finals footy and then watching the games together as a group to get a feeling for what they should be trying to be a part of. I would continue that every week of the finals.

Then on mad monday (after the grand final) they can go and get on the gas and then have a few weeks off before coming back for pre-season.

I dont think they should be in any mood to go out and run amok after the season they had. They should be upset and wanting to be a part of finals footy. Not patting each other on the behind.

Its time Richmond got ruthless.

The extra few weeks hard work wont hurt the playing group.

I would have had them in on Monday reviewing the Nought Melbourne game btw.
Damo, not sure but i think there is an EBA that states there must be a break of a certain amount of weeks between seasons. Hence why some teams, read finalists, start pre season a little later than others.
Also, how long do you think a young playing list would last physically and mentally if we trained them harder and for longer? They are a bunch of kids who do need to be human/social beings.
Every worker has a break, a holiday or whatever. Nearly every workplace has a social function where alcohol is consumed. It makes for less boring work place and is good for morale. Mad Monday is for only one day of the year after all!

Yep,

Not saying they shouldnt have mad monday am I?

Im saying have it the monday after GF.

They can then have the required time off after that.

But I guess thats trying a different approach.

stuff that idea off, lets keep going along the successful path we have been i guess.

Correct GR12 - 8 weeks break is what they must have under the CBA.

So if we were to train them now through to Grand Final wek then we wouldn't be allowed ot train them again until late Nov/ first week of Dec - not exactly ideal.

Mad Monday is BS.

Let them smash pee when the season is finished.

There is still a season taking place.

A season that they actually still could have been part of.

The funny part about your posts are that you basically say that they are a pack of teetotalers during the season. Yeah, no worries.

They dont relax and have a drink during the season the poor souls.

The list gets paid a fortune to be professional, how did they go on the trip to Darwin?

They have already had one "footy trip" this year. Now mad monday, and then "footy trip 2".

Question for you that reckon im being hard. When did they review the North game?

Or do we do another Hardwick favourite and just "bin it".

stuff that.

How about they as a bare minimum do the review and necessary recovery work then have mad stuffing thursday.

Mad Monday is a thing from a past era. Back when smashing pee on a thursday night was the norm and players were working class men during the week.

Agree with you on this Damo. This could be a massive statement to the rest of the comp. You could even just make it for the first week of the finals, start the players holiday 2nd week, then you get them back 8th Nov. At this point you will see who completed a finals program. They could use the 8 week holiday to their advantage and help sort some wheat from the chaff. Do you think Trent Cotchin sits on his butt during the 8 week layoff?

If the club does its player review as it has done in past years then the players will be called in one by one sometime this week over two days. So those who will be cut or may be put up for trade would know their fate before heading off on the offseason break.
