Dog eat dog comp
Essendon set the scene last year with Knights - does Hird have much integrity? Not in my book

Agree

Re: Hird he has about as much integrity as Bomber Thompson  ;D
Agree!
The whole comp lacks integrity IMO
I somehow think we better get used to it!
This has probably set a precedent for future shenanigans, methinks!!!

hang on a sec here wasnt the Saints the one who stabbed Blighty in the back.

As far as im concerned they can get stuffed, i think lyon did the right thing just like scully and anyone else who leaves for money because your career can be cut short, and clubs can dump you in a second so while you have a chance you have to grab it.

In Lyon's case i think he left because of the money and all that but also because they the Saints are a pathetic cultureless club who have got exactly what they deserved. They were stalling and he said well stuff you im off.

Harvey copped it but its no worse than any other coach who was dumped. Only difference is he had no warning but its happened before and it will happen again.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

Interesting to see how each playing group reacts. Will all Freo players like the fact Harvey is gone and Lyon is coming in? Saint players on twitter are in shock.

Btw the Saints will now need to change their slogan "Fortius quo fidelius" (strength through loyalty) to "infirmitate per insidias" (weakness through treachery)  :yep

Or how about "sumus patheticus ipsum dolor uictores in unum measly premiership super centum annos"

Or "Victus ipsum dolor viginti sex uictores nos a lignea acetabula"

Or "tribus annis in dolor eu felis chokers ideo dumped dolor victo, quae nos pro themate carmen umquam pessimus"

 ;D

I just checked Dockerland and Saintsational forums. Both set of supporters are going nuts over this lol.

Saints fans are blaming the appoint of Chris Pelcham 7 weeks ago who was put above Lyon in the pecking order of their footy dept. Maybe coincidence but Lyon supposedly signed with Freo 5 weeks ago.

"Even by the low standard of competency Steve Harris has set himself, Fremantle members and football followers alike have been shocked by his latest buffoonery, sacking Mark Harvey as coach of the Fremantle Football Club. Mark Harvey, who took over the job after Chris Connolly stepped aside in 2007 still had a year to run on his contract but was given the Freo Steve-Ho after an injury plagued season saw the Dockers miss the finals. Ross Lyon is tipped to take up the job, after his sudden departure from St Kilda today, with the Fremantle administration getting around to fronting the media sometime on Friday, presumably after they run out of Crayfish tails at the Atrium buffet table. More to come. "

The question is where can he take fremantle from here?
Who will st kilda appoint?
The Saints have made Robert Harvey interim coach. Maybe they'll go after Mark Harvey in panic and it'll be another Northey/Walls scenario which ended badly for both in the end.

As for where Lyon can take Freo from here - their current lis is good enough to make the bottom 2-3 spots of the top 8 given they play 11 home games at Subi. They would've got in this year ahead of the Bombers if they didn't cop so many injuries. Next year depends on how long the Freo players take to adjust to Lyon's  :sleep gameplan. It took the Saints a year or two to adjust when Lyon took over from Grant Thomas.

St Kilda just had their press conference. They said a lot without saying nothing. The only thing they admitted was up to 5.30pm yesterday they had believed Lyon was staying at St Kilda.

Freo's press conference at midday Perth time I believe.

Played with a straight bat.

They are obviously in damage control and have taken the 'say little' path to promote an image that the club isn't a train wreck, probably to ensure members don't jump off and appear as a respectable club to possible coaching candidates.

Sheesh.....

INTERESTING FACT: - As of next year, all top 6 clubs of 2010 will have replaced their senior coaches. It sure is an a$$-about time in football history!

First question to Lyon at his press conference with Freo.
Do you feel you stabbed Harvey in the back.

His answer he just dribbles the career coach line.

Yep Lyon pretty much put the blame on Freo and washed his hands of what happened to Harvey.

Ruthless efficiency comes to mind with Lyon in that press conference. The media were hostile especially the WA journos but Lyon had an answer for every question. Basically blamed St Kilda for hanging off for months and not giving the terms he wanted until Wednesday this week. The reality is there was a out clause in his contract and he knows St Kilda are shot given their ageing list so he bailed.

The interesting thing now is if a few Saints follow. Goddard is the obvious one.
