He has been serviceable. For the opposition.

He was one of our better defenders under Wallace, he seems to have gone down a bit of late, how short peoples memories are.

He's a good to average spoiler who can blanket a good to average forward. He has trouble with his desposal and decision making while under pressure which is his biggest slight considering the pressure of his position. He would be good as a third tall in a good side such as Carlton.

At Richmond we already have raw talent that has considerably more potential and imho, has already surpassed him in current capability.

Would not get us much at the trade table but a third/fourth rounder pick would be useful. Otherwise will become a depth player.

Has always been that heart in the mouth type footballer. Even when he was spoiling well he was consistently allowing his opponent easy cheap goals undoing his hard work

His game against GWS was a classic example of that. He constantly undid his good work by poor disposal and poor decision making. It was a game he could have dominated but didn't

Recent trade history: The Tigers are often busy during trade week. They secured Carlton midfielder Shaun Grigg last season after sending young forward Andrew Collins to the Blues. Grigg's top-10 finish in Richmond's best and fairest means the Tigers regard that as a successful deal, although the club has probably had more misses than hits during recent trade weeks. Graham Polak and Jordan McMahon are two poor trades that Tiger fans would rather forget.

Likely strategy: The first thing Richmond needs is a mature ruckman to complement developing big men Angus Graham and Andrew Browne. The club is already talking to Adelaide about a deal to secure Ivan Maric. Its forward line and midfield are also in good shape, but it needs tall, skilled defenders. Geelong's Tom Gillies has apparently caught the eye of the Tigers' recruiting staff. "We must continue to add to our playing list, and identify the right talent that will complement our existing playing group we already have, so … the pressure is on,” Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said at the club's best and fairest award. "We need to get better, and we need to get better quickly."

Polak was traded for pick 8 and we got Freos pick 14 which we used (and was always going to) pick Jack. Polly effectively cost us nix as did Bacher where we held our ground which is great negotiating - if not trading

WHO should your club be chasing, and what could they offer in return? A closer look at what your team has to gain, and lose, in trade week.

RICHMOND

PICKS: 14 15, 37, 55, 73, 91

NEEDS: They need plenty given only Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio, Dustin Martin, Jack Riewoldt and Tyrone Vickery are certainities to be there in five years. So that means big-bodied defenders, although Alex Rance showed some real signs this year.

TRADE TABLE: They are prepared to be active this week. Bachar Houli and Shaun Grigg were worthwhile trade week deals last year. Now they have to get a deal done for ruckman Ivan Maric, given the Tigers are desperate in this area. Dan Connors, who can play, could become involved in the Maric deal.

FAIR CALL: Connors for Maric is fair, even if Adelaide will scream a bit at first. Luke McGuane is a defender who will attract some interest. Not sure too many other Tigers will carry much weight.
