Re: draft depth. Once again punters reading too much into what the media nuff nuffs have to say.

Quote
"The clubs are rapt with the depth in this year's draft," said Sheehan.

"The first two rounds (of the draft) into the mid-30s, it's very, very strong."

"After that there's 90 other boys there and there's not too many you would say haven't got a chance of getting through."

"They're an impressive group and I think there's going to be some absolute gems later in the draft for those clubs prepared to give a youngster a chance."

"I think there will be dozens of bolters."

I can understand good teams not wanting to go deep but we still have some massive spuds on the list that need to be replaced and can be if we go deep in the draft. However, i think Sheahan has exaggerated how good the depth is.

Yeah he generally gags for every draft, so grain of salt. But media pundits have the draft dropping off a cliff at pick 15. I think it is a better draft than the year we picked up Nason and Webberley. Must use our first 3 picks and try and get another pick in that 30-50 range. I'm against using a 3rd rounder for Maric. Go a player swap.

I agree. Its probably in between the 2 extremes of may as well pack up shop at pick 15 and there are 120 good players  ::)

Given their games played and age are  similar, i would expect that McGuane and Maric would be traded for a similar draft pick, therefore McGuane to Brisbane and Maric to the Tigers for whatever draft pick we get from Brisbane.

yeah if we can basically swap a pick with Adel & Bris we don't lose out at all re draft order and get Maric in for next to nought...

liking the prospect of this...

I could live with a swap of Maric for McGuane. No loss for us as Rance, Grimes and co. have gone past McGaune in the pecking order. At least we wouldn't be throwing away a draft pick on another club's fringe 3rd-in-line ruckman.

The Brisbane board on BF is pretty funny over this with Lions fans claiming Voss has lost the plot again lol. In fairness the article says McGuane wants to go home to Brisbane (the city) rather than the Lions. Maybe Gold Coast is also an option. They have picks 27, 32 and 50.

The Lions' focus on Clark is preventing it from discussing other possible moves, including a trade with Richmond for defender Luke McGuane, who has been reported as keen to return to his home state of Queensland.

"We haven't spoken to Richmond about any trade for Luke McGuane," Lions national talent manager Rob Kerr said.

"Our main focus is to try and get this deal done, and if it gets done, I dare say a number of other things might follow."

Defender Luke McGuane seems unlikely to get to Brisbane despite reports.
