UPDATE 4pm: RICHMOND is refusing to budge on its offer of a second-round draft pick for Adelaide ruckman Ivan Maric.

TIGERS CONFIDENT ON MARIC DEAL

4.04pm: RICHMOND says a mid-first round compensation pick will not be part of the deal for Adelaide ruckman Ivan Maric.

The Tigers have offered the Crows pick 37 but Adelaide has reportedly demanded the Tigers' first pick at 14, or the compensation pick Richmond received from Adelaide last year for Richard Tambling. The pick was originally handed to the Crows for losing Nathan Bock to Gold Coast.

Richmond football manager Craig Cameron said today talks had stalled while the Crows jockeyed for position in tomorrow's GWS mini-draft, and he expected the impasse to be resolved later in the week.

But he said the Tigers were committed to hanging on to the two first-round selections.

"We've offered Adelaide a second-round selection, Adelaide will probably come back to us with a few other things, but it (a final deal) won't involve our first-round pick or the compensation pick," he told the AFL website.

"I'm pretty sure a deal will get done."

Cameron confirmed interest from "a couple" of clubs about defender Luke McGuane and said a deal was likely towards the end of the trade period.

With the likely arrival of Maric, the club has also been asked about the availability of ruckman Angus Graham.

But Cameron said Graham was contracted and a required player, along with big man Andrew Browne, who has been offered a new contract.

Daniel Connors' name has been floated in trade talks but has attracted little interest.

Cameron said Daniel Jackson was close to signing a new contract and would definitely be at Punt Rd next season.

il take that. It seems like they have listened and we will not be parting with our compo pick.

would prefer maric to walk and we get him for free but il take it, considering our past.

Keeping the Compo pick will have nothing to do with listening to anyone except their own council.

A few points from the interview.

*progressing with adelaide and waiting for them to do other things*

*under 17 mini trade is holding up deals*

*compo pick not in play for Ivan and when pressed by Barrett the answer was definitely not in play*

*first round selection and compo pick won't be offered club not moving on that*

*confident a deal will be done*

*a couple of clubs have spoken to us about luke*

*Browne has been offered a contract for next year*

*Connors has talked to us about a fresh start not alot of interest from other clubs happy to stay no issue*

*key defenders are mostly tied up with other clubs difficult to find*

*Jackson contract has been on hold due to CBA figures. Loose agreement on a deal waiting to get back from over-seas*
Cheers tiger101 and pmac for the summary  :cheers.

Mostly happy with all that. Good to hear pick 15 and the compo pick is not for trade; Hopefully we do get a bite for McGuane; no real surprise about Connors - WP will be happy about him staying when WP returns from holiday :lol. Jacko would be the one I would've had on the trade table to see if we could get anything decent in return. I think that's where Ramps is coming from in the other threads.

ps. Strange that there were no questions about Morton.

How many trades until we are considered 'heavily involved'?

A general question to OER pundits.

Will the compensation picks awarded to clubs that lose players to free agency reduce the value of our compensation pick in the draft that we got for Ambling?

Is that maybe why some clubs are so keen to trade their compensation picks back to GCS and GWS?

Ask Cameron mate he was the one that said it, but gee I would say one wouldn't really cut it at the moment would you and it is Thursday.

look at the others clubs, more deals than us and none of the involved clubs spoke there arse off about being heavily involved.

You are continually missing my point. Say it do it, walk the walk.....get it!!!

There have been 8 trades dude and we've done one of them.

2 more definitely on the burner (Maric & McGuane) and maybe one or two more as well.

Cool it big fella.

Ok, I will wait until the end of trade week...no worries. Lets see if Cameron sticks by his comments.
