That would be a hugely disappointing draft for us IMO.

And that differrs from our other drafts how....... :thumbsup ;)

lol.... You really are an idiot! You say we have drafted poorly in years gone by yet you expect us to finish top 4 "no excuses" ??  I told you that light beer from the other pub will poison you :lol

Patterson, Meyer, Polo, looks like we drink from the same keg!!!!!

lol going back 7 years to find examples of poor drafting  :lol

Yeah but those guys were 17/18 so they would be in their prime now.....why is that a bad example of poor drafting... :huh :huh

The only decent drafting we have done and I am talking stars is Lids, Cotch and Martin, maybe Riewoldt.........so how have we drafted well in the past.

Because it was 7 years ago. Who cares now? It's in the past. We recruit well then and do a bit better but then miss out on Cotchin and Martin etc. Not to mention the selections were made by a different recruiter (Miller)

Be interesting to see the players that were picked before the players I mentioned and see where they are now, that's the difference. The picks we make now will matter in 7 years won't they......

Be interesting to see the players that were picked before the players I mentioned and see where they are now, that's the difference. The picks we make now will matter in 7 years won't they......

Here is a list of the players picked before the above mentioned just to put it into some prospective for you..........

2...Jarryd Roughhead (136 games)
3...Ryan Griffin  (143 games)
4...Richard Tambling (traded to Adelaide)

10...Chris Egan (Retired)
11...Adam Thomson (Retired)
12...Danny Myer (Retired)

14...Angus Monfries (132 Games)
15...Lyndon Dunn (80 games)
16...Adam Patterson (Retired)

18...Cameron Wood (58 Games)
19...Ryan Willets (Retired)
20...Dean Polo (Delisted picked up by St Kilda 71 games)

Clearly those player before our pick are making a huge difference :lol :lol And to put it into even further prospective for you.......

Picks 1-10.....8 players remain
Picks 11-20...3 Players remain
Picks 21-30...2 players remain
Picks 31-40...4 players remain (Inc 1 Father son)
Picks 41-77...3 players remain

So out of a total of 77 picks in the 2004 draft only 20 players are still running around today!

The one glaring mistake we made was taking Tambling over Buddy but apart from that the draft was that weak I don't think it would have matter who we took the year class just wasn't up to it!

The only bad draft pick of recent years that springs to mind was Troy Taylor, and that was pick 51 so by no means a wasted pick. On pure talent was a great pick up, just never got on because of his attitude.

Redundant to start bringing up drafts from before the new era started, was out of their control. I actually think the drafts we have had post Dimma have been very successful:

2009
Martin
Griffiths
Astbury
Dea
Taylor (Delisted)
Webberley
Nason (Delisted)

Dylan Grimes in PSD

2010
Conca
Batchelor
Helbig
MacDonald
Derickx

Bachar Houli in PSD

Not to mention the trading in 2009 with offloading Raines to Brisbane for #44 and then in 2010 with robbing Adelaide in the Tambling trade and picking up Grigg who finished top 10 in the B&F for Collins who wouldn't have got a game this season for us.

This year already looks promising with the trades done to bring Maric and Stephen Morris to the club, while also gaining a second 1st round pick (26).

Ryan Willets - who the hell was Ryan Willets and who did he play for... did he actually play any games?  ;D

lol.....Ryan "Bruce" Willets was a 198cm Power forward darfted by port with pick 19 in the 04 draft.
He tore the league a new one with his 3 games and 1 goal ;D ;D

And for the record, Port had 5 picks in the 04 Draft (11,19,34,35 and 51) and don't have a single player from year left on there list ;)

Davey, its refreshing to finally have someone on this forum who sticks up for players who's names are so often spelled incorrectly.   :clapping

On another note we need to recruit this kid just for our game in Cairns.

Just slot him in the forward pocket for the two quarters that are into the wind and we are set to tear the Gold Coast a new one!

What Wind??????
