One question that hasn't been answered is how is his disposal and kicking skills? because from what I have read it's not good at all.

i get the impression that he is passable on that front.

we'll soon get to find out, though, more than likely.

From today's Herald-Sun....

Hardwick, entering his third season in charge of the Tigers, revealed the club had committed to selecting axed Collingwood utility John McCarthy at this month's pre-season draft.

But the plan will depend on Port Adelaide, likely to swoop if a deal cannot be struck with another former Magpie, Leon Davis.

"We've committed to John at this stage, but we're not quite sure what Port Adelaide are doing," Hardwick said.

"He's a guy who can give us great flexibility - he can play forward, midfield and a little bit down back.

"He probably didn't get the opportunities at Collingwood because of their depth. But he can play the game."

Don't understand many posts in this thread.

Why would we draft Maric when we already traded for him?  :-\ :gobdrop :help

Former Carlton player Darren Pfeiffer, who has been playing with Norwood in the SANFL, has gained permission today to train with Port Adelaide. A fair few people are saying Port may select him at pick 3 in the PSD which would then allow John McCarthy to slip through to us at pick 4.

Stupid if Port take him in the PSD. No one will take him before their first rookie pick. Then again it's Port.

Pre-Season Draft nominations:

Leon Davis joined ex-St Kilda defender Zac Dawson, Tom Collier (Brisbane Lions), Anthony Long (Essendon), and former Magpies teammates John McCarthy and Trent Stubbs in lodging nomination forms before Tuesday's 2pm deadline.

The Giants also had the right to list any previously listed player who nominated and was overlooked in November's NAB AFL Draft before Tuesday's deadline, but chose not to.

That group of players, which includes former Carlton and Brisbane Lions full forward Brendan Fevola and ex-Bomber Andrew Lovett, remain in the pool for the pre-season and rookie drafts.

They have to take someone to fill the last spot on their list.

Taking a player who wants to head to another club he is already training with would be just as stupid for Port. At the end of the day the norm is a player usually gets to the club of his choice in the PSD. If McCarthy tells Port he wants to play for Richmond then he'll be a Tiger on Dec 13.

Word is a Port Adelaide sponsor V.I.P Home Services has said they will increase club sponsorship if both Fevola & Leon Davis are recruited to the club as it will increase crowds.
