Let's home Grimesy ends up being the turning point

Its a very interesting list if mostly for its list of failures

If you take 50 games as the base of a success then there are only 3/38 players that could be considered a success.  This ignores good older players like David Cloke, Ben Cousins who were too old to play 50 games and younger players Bachar Houli who has yet to play 50 but surely will.  Grimes is really an unknown so far.

So you could say we have had a success rate of 6/37 with one unknown.
Also you could say only one good player has comes from pick 7 or below, Chris Bond.  Which is first round only!!  Funny how it only goes to one round these days too.

The lessons of the successes seem to be

1) You can get a good player if you target them and they are disgruntled with their current club (Gaspar, Houli)
2) You can get a good player if they are old (Cloke twice, Cousins)
3) Its rare to get a good player from the second round of the PSD draft (Chris Bond)
4) Its rare to get a good player young player from a non AFL club (Matt White out of 7) assuming Grimes is an unknown.

Seems to me we have done the right thing by enlisting an opposition list analyst as that's one of the best ways to get a good player in a bare draft. 
We also ought to look at good players who are old if we haven't targeted a young known good player.
With free agency coming up this may be even easier.

Tidy, the only thing I would add is that Gaspar was the result of us getting a compensation pick in that draft for Maxfield. So it almost ended up being a straight swap
