After the umpires pantsed us raped us and then left us to die with a staggering 11 frees to 2 in the first quarter of which at least 6 of those frees contributed to Collingwoods 8.6.54 and a 40 point lead at quarter time, Richmond continued to fight gamely to be 50 points down at half time after a Travis Cloke fluke with 7 seconds to go in the second.
What transpired in the third was both breathtaking surprising joyous and heartwarming.
Richmond played a brand of attacking footy down the corridor with Lids Cotch and Martin the architects and for the first time in a long time Collingwood looked rattled. For us long suffering RFC fans it was window into the future and a belief that with consistency time and maturity this side would be putting smiles on RFC fans faces regardless of how the maggots interpret the game.
The only normality we knew from this game was the 6 clangers that Shane came u with the out of bounds on the full running into the goal, the run with three bounces and 30 metre grubber kick to Harry O, the kicks straight to the opposition and the handball to the bloke in the RFC jumper who was already hot from his Skunk opponent.
We were never going to win as we all knew in our heart of hearts the Pies were going to steady in the fourth after the margin was reduced to 26 at three quarter time but for 30 minutes we were on top of the world barring the break in the link of the chain I mentioned previously and back to the reality that despite the wonder ability exhuberance and talent of our best players unless these so called C graders don't step up to B and A Graders in terms of there impact and skill they will be game makers for all the wrong reasons and why we will wallow in the bottom half of the table until they do or we get rid of them.
