Jack Riewoldt and Jake King on MMM
« on: February 07, 2012, 06:23:35 PM »
Not fond of making new threads, so I'll stick this in here. Riewoldt and King were just on Triple M's Rush Hour. I got the first two segments but I was sitting in the car at the supermarket and couldn't be stuffed sitting through another tune to get the last bit. I reckon they'll have it in the podcast later which I was going to look up anyway because Billy had a ripper bake at the start of the show. Anyhoo, this is what I can remember:

-Jack rejoined the main training group two weeks ago. In the rehab group he was running 10kms 3 times a week. Has been doing weights for injury prevention.
-Nahas was told to put on some weight by the fitness staff and he was succeeded in putting on a few kegs.
-Jack said Dusty has been tearing it up. He reckons that Dusty is one of those players that will keep taking his game to the next level for the first 4-5 years of their career.
-Ivan Maric's leadership skills have been really appreciated. He said that while leadership was not lacking, there just wasn't enough of it.
-King said that most of the boys are ready to go and will mostly all play throughout the NAB cup. King said that he especially wanted to play as many as Dimma would let him, and then try to play at Coburg at round 1. But he said that is pending to some VFL rule about AFL players maybe not being able to play until round 3, or something.
-King was pressed on the finals question. He said that every club plans to play finals every year. He said that of course we are but have obvious road blocks such as young players. King said that besides 2 or 3 clubs at the top, the rest of the spots are open and are there for who wants them the most.
-Jack was asked about Deledio. He said must of been a slow news week since the footy hasn't even started and the media are already talking about contracts. Jack went on to say that free agency is here and this is what it is going to be like for players in the 8-10 year bracket and that Deledio was an important member of the leadership group but just wants Brett to play his best footy for now.
-The Push Up King tees are for a charity where a fraction of the profit goes towards a charity (I think I saw OE post it just now) and there will be a charity and world record attempt after the open training on the 24th of Feb

That's all I can remember for now. I don't mind Billy, but I reckon Brayshaw is often a knob. But one thing I'll give him is that he doesn't mind backing our boys  :thumbsup

"He said that while leadership was not lacking, there just wasn't enough of it"

LMAO. Jacky boy, I think you're saying that we were lacking leadership if there wasn't enough of it.

LOL I probably got the wording slightly wrong, but that was the gist. Basically said we had some, but not enough.

----just listened again. He said leadership and then maturity. So I guess I got it wrong :P I was listening to it in the car waiting for it to hurry up so I could go grocery shopping. derp.

edit: Podcast up. Probably only up until tomorrow or Thursday http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/shows/rush-hour-with-james-brayshaw-and-billy-brownless

Billy's bake is a corker. If you scroll after that it should be the JRoo and King interview.
