Jack Watts has been dropped again. Not a good sign. To be honest I'm starting to think he would be better off asking to be traded away from the demons and maybe even to a none melbourne base side to shake the number 1 draft pick tag.

he can play but man he's struggling a bit. not a good sign when they drop him after one game in a new role. Why the stuff would they have him playing a defensive forward role? Was he drafted for his defensive ability or because of his quality skills? Encourage the kid to take the game on.

Melbourne have wrecked Watts. He's a soft shadow of the junior footballer he was (a lead-up full forward) and he hasn't coped with being No.1 pick especially with NicNat showing the Dees how they got their drafting wrong. Watts needs to change clubs where he's just another player on a list and there's a strong club culture (eg: Swans, who love rejects) while he's young and still has development scope within him.

Mentally soft is Princess Jacqueline. :help
Poor culture at Melbourne and that has stifled his development as well as that silver spoon private school environment. Furthermore the nurturing environment at Melbourne is non existant with a senior core of players ruling the roost and a club full of officials who really add nothing to the stability.

The sooner he leaves the better and poor old Mark Neeld has an another uphill struggle to contend with having to hand kids games to get them AFL experience while trying to rebuild a list whose senior players are adding very little and trying to delist will prove alot easier than offloading them to another club. They are worse off than us when compared to where we were at the same stage of the season in 2010. Being a superdraft I can see him being trade bait at the end of the year considering this is the second time he has been dropped this year.

Reminds me totally of the Tambling saga and in the end we were better off offloading him and I think the Dees will be better off without him also and getting something worthwhile for him while he is still young and has the time to learn new tricks and gain a new footy persona and attitude.

True Tucky, there's definitely similarities between what's happening with Watts now and what happened with Tambling at Richmond. Both players chosen in the draft ahead of absolute freaks and both not coping with the pressure that comes from that from angry supporters and the media who constantly point it out. Richie was traded after 6 years; Watts is now in his 4th. If Watts stays at Melbourne for another two years after this one he'll end up like Richie running around in the state leagues with no further development left in him. Btw in his junior days in the U18 champs I didn't see Watts as soft nor not confident on the footy field. Melbourne's sick bruise-free footy culture as you mentioned Tucky has infected his footy and mentality.

A charity win for the Pies last night against the poor old doggies who tried but have no tall forwards. Sheesh Higgins looks a shadow of his former pre-injuries self. If only the Pies played as poorly as that for 3 quarters against us  :scream. Hard to see them finishing top 4 based on last night. Harry O is a real liability in the Collingwood's defence now.

It would be nice to see the Mudpies come up against some decent opposition while they are injury-ridden and vulnerable. But of course the AFL has gifted them a soft draw once again, while WE come up against all the better sides week after week.

Crameri has 4 goals in the first qtr against Brisbane. Bombers up 51- 25.

Melbourne hanging in there against the Cats thanks to Geelong's poor goalkicking.

Geelong hasn't yet blown the Dees away thanks to their goalpoint-kicking. 25 pts up in the 3rd despite 22 scoring shots to just 12.

The current Lions side would have to be right up there with the worst of the old bad news Bears teams. It's going to get worse before it gets better too with Brown and Black near retirement. Not great for the AFL in Qld to have two crap teams up there although the Suns will improve in the next few years once all their young first round picks physically mature and gain 50-70+ games experience.
