RICHMOND

1. Dustin Martin
2. Jack Riewoldt
3. Ivan Maric

The Tigers midfield has talent to burn but is a little light-on for size, which is why strong-bodied Martin is more important than ever to their fortunes. His ball-winning and consistency should lift to the elite level in his third season, but what makes him so valuable is his knack of kicking multiple goals - and from a long way out. Riewoldt is over last year's injury worries, though expect a more team-oriented Jack to kick enough goals on his own while also dishing off plenty to give the Tigers extra potency. And though the Tigers have players with more talent than 'Mullet' Maric, he can have a huge impact on their season by simply competing hard and winning his share of taps to advantage – something a Tiger ruckman has failed to do thus far under Damien Hardwick. Apologies to captain Chris Newman with his steadying influence and precise kicking down back.

Who is your club's MVP? (Age)

Walls in The Age today has gone with Jack as our MVP....

----------------------------------------------------------------

ON THE eve of the 2012 season, who do you consider to be the most important player for your team? Opinions will vary.

Bearing in mind a combination of factors, such as talent, leadership, spirit, courage and team structure, these would be my selections.

RICHMOND - Jack Riewoldt

A fit Riewoldt will be a fantastic player for the Tigers. This man just wins contests. He would be a nightmare to play against, because if he doesn't beat you in the air, he will at ground level. Coach Damien Hardwick is developing a multi-pronged attack, which is a good thing, as it takes the pressure off Riewoldt to always be the main man. After five years in the system, Riewoldt is seriously set to become one of the AFL's superstars.
