AFL 2012 Game Campaign Alternative
« on: March 16, 2012, 02:28:05 PM »
I read in the Age this morning that the AFL will use AC/DC's "Long Way to the Top" as the theme music for their 2012 Game campaign.

I think this shows the usual poor understanding of the Music Industry that follows on from their usual crap entertainment decisions like the GF music.
"Long Way to the Top" has been used in recent times for the title of an ABC television show, a Touring production recalling this period, the theme for SLAM (Save Live Australian Music) demonstrations and campaign among others. The song is great but I feel it's value has been degraded by it's overuse.

What caught my attention was the headline that the Age used - "AC/DC salutes those about to Ruck in AFL Ad Campaign".
It brings to mind another AC/DC song that I think would be a much better song to use - "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)".

I don't have the skill to do it but is there any chance the talented posters here could do a mock-up campaign (even just using Richmond video).
The cannon fire in the song is just one thing that IMO lends itself to a spectacular bond between music and sport.
Sample Lyric "Stand up and be counted. For what you are about to receive"
Fire away!

Yeah, the days of slapping your thong along to the music and shaking your mullet around are stuffing over, How about they try and appeal to a wider audience and not just aging boomers.  Maybe have a look at some music written in the last 10 or 20 or even 30 years for a change, I mean it is 2012 not stuffing 1974.  Plus It will always be used to advertise Chico Rolls for me.
It's a long way to the shop if you wanna chico roll!

That's all very good and well, but when are these Big M girls showing up that everyone keeps talking about on the PMs? And what the hell does 'Man Batter' mean ?
