Last year it was the first quarter.
This year the second.

Mental thing? Physical thing?

I can't put my finger on it

I think other than the Geelong game which was low scoring, the Essendon game and the umps and us playing dumb footy against Freo it hasn't been integral in us not winning.

The trend in the other games was already set and lets say in the Collingwood game coming out cold after half time cost us not being outscored in the second quarter.

Whilst it is a worry some of those quarters have only been lost by less than a goal.

Against Port our second set up the win but the third quarter we dropped off and gave them a sniff, similar scenario against Sydney the following week after we dominated the first quarter.

I think in other season we have played a quarter or a quarter and a half and fell way badly at least this year we have hung in there and in every game this year in the last quarter we have been close enough if we were good enough and those 1.5 quarter efforts have turned into 2 or 2.5 -3 quarter efforts. We have won a quarter in each game this season so far which is something in under Dimma we haven't done in the first two years so from that measure we have improved IMHO and it has been integral to our development and mental substance of our side.

Also thankfully there is no 8-9 goal quarters against us so far this season which is why our overall % is where it is at this point in time which again goes back to our mental maturity growing within the group and translating to on field results this year.

Great points Tucker when we are at the G we always kick city end first quarter if we win the toss
i think the club uses the crowd for momentum  to the punt road end for the 4th quarter
So it seems strange  that in the second quarter we have stats that low

After our ordinary 2nd qtrs Dimma must give the boys a spray and rev up in the rooms at half-time so they come out firing in the 3rd.

Tigers tops in premiership quarter

The third quarter of a match has long been known in league football (and some other sports, too) as “the premiership quarter”.

It‘s normally associated with a momentum swing during that term, which results in one side seizing the initiative and going on to win the game, thereby, theoretically, moving a step closer to the ultimate prize - the premiership.

Analysis of Richmond’s quarter-by-quarter scores throughout the first 12 rounds of the 2012 season shows that the Tigershave performed best, overall, in the so-called premiership quarter.

Yep we burst out of the blocks in the first qtr and the umps then try to even it up to half time.

2nd quarter lapses cost us Suns game, Freo game and Carlton game. Need to play four quarters if we are to improve
