How far away are we?
« on: April 26, 2012, 09:14:46 AM »
So, as a relatively new fan I was thinking the other night about RFC. How far do you guys things we are from finals footy? I know there are some issues we need to work out (forwards, Jacko, Edwards)  and that our team is still young but would you say in a year or two we should be there? How talented is the team now compared to teams since Richmond's drought started? Sorry for all the newbie questions guys but I'm just really wanting to learn as much as I can about the club.

I said we would be 1-4 to start this year and still have us making finals. I actually think we are a good show to win on Sunday, so to be 2-3 after playing 4 of the top 5 sides in the first 5 weeks would be massive for us!  :pray

If not this season, next season we have to make it.

Richmond make finals 2012, Mayan calendar restarts, universe implodes on it self. Only John Cusack is safe.

We have had a really tough start to the year....The good news is that after this week our draw opens up with many winnable games (on paper).

The AFL is a tough competition USAFF...No doubt we have improved on last year however our rivals for the lower rungs of the 8 have also improved.

Dont worry the sun will soon shine on the Richmond football club.

After this weeks game the competition opens up more for us. The first few weeks are designed to allow the rest of the competition to relax and start to under estimate us. Then we can slowly and quietly start to climb and sneak into the finals while everyone is concentrating on all the teams that peaked too early  :P

Gotta come out this week and win. I'm also concerned about Port the next week. Will be 2 pretty tough games. Hoping Griffiths, Arnot and Elton get some games very very soon.

IMV Finals this year will be a bonus. Have said many times we need everything to go right

But from 2013 onwards we should be making finals

As for a Premiership - play finals consistently and the opportunity is always there is you are good enough.  :thumbsup

Okay, i was kind of thinking along the same lines, that we're close. From the matches i've watched it seems the Tigers are just a few crucial mistakes a game from wins. I also do realize this is a tough draw to start the year out. I'm hoping to see us beat the Eagles in a few days.

Should be playing finals this year, just sloppy play and lazy players are letting us down at the moment, thats the difference.

Must make finals next year and stay there for many years, if we don't,the desease from years past within the culture at the club will never change unless the entire current coaching staff and above are swept out. As well as players from our crap culture days.

As WP said finals this year would be a bonus. As long as we keep improving finals appearance shouldn't be to long away.
Fingers crossed we get a armchair ride into the 8 next year with an easy fixture like some teams have this year.

We will never get concessions like some other clubs, especially considering the supporter base of that said club are as rare as the bunyip or yeti.
I still cant understand how that happens, but thats the AFL. Even if we played Gold Coast twice?? it would still be in Cairns and Metricon QLD
Some will disagree but if we had won the gold coast, port and last nth game we could of played finals last year. We were 3 games away.
But I suppose the problem is close enough is good enough has been accepted for too long, im sure the kids busting their behind every week like Rance, Cotch, Lids, Batch etc wont put up with free riders for much longer..

This year I get the feeling we will be in the mix and without making excuses about the draw being tough etc, I think the fact we have blown 2-3 games we could have won we will just miss out by 2-3 ladder places. This year (without putting a moz on us) I think the bigger difference will be that we dont get blown away by the bigger clubs. So with a better percentage we will be high up the ladder.
fwiw at this stage I thought we could be 2-3 by the end of this round. But most likely 1-4

What you would want to see USAFF is this imo:
12 wins minimum (very possible)
good percentage around the 100.00% mark or more due to the below:
Smashing the teams below us
And when we lose to other teams not to be blown away
Also and very important: the emergence of the little depth that we do have creeping their way into the side throughout the year. This would be because they've worked hard to get a crack in the seniors and thats what we want- Winners!!

I have to say if this is a gimmick account that your american gimmick is the best gimmick on this site at the moment. Wish I had thought of it. Maybe I could have been a Richmond supporter living in The Congo or Uganda  ;D

Here I am again in this mean old town
And you're so far away from me
And where are you when the sun goes down?
You're so far away from me

You're so far away from me
So far I just can't see
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me, alright

I'm tired of bein' in love and bein' all alone
When you're so far away from me
I'm tired of makin' out on the telephone
'Cause you're so far away from me

You're so far away from me
You're so far I just can't see
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me, alright

And I get so tired when I have to explain

When you're so far away from me
See you've been in the sun and I've been in the rain
And you're so far away from me

You're so far away from me
You're so far I just can't see
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me, take it down

So far away from me
Oh, you're so far away from me
Yeah, you're so far away from me
So far away from me

And you're so far away from me
So far away from me
So far away from me
You're so far away from me
You're so far away from me
So far away from me

So far away from me
You're so far away from me

You're just so far away from me
