The official response from the RFC website ....

Dea has been promoted on the back of a best-on-ground performance for Coburg in last Sunday’s VFL match against Frankston.

He gathered 29 possessions in his role across half-back, winning plenty of one-on-one contests and providing strong run out of defence.

no beefcake? damn

on dea, like most here I have grave reservations about him developing into a solid afl player, the big knock on him has been the lack of ball he gets, the fact he bobbed up with 29 possies is a step in the right direction. Good reward, just hope he shows something. I know for a fact the pies rated him pre draft and were going to take him at some stage, so there must be something there... Ill confess I havent seen it  ;D

Shuey named on the bench. The Eagles are playing funny business as Shuey would be named in the starting 18 if he was 100% playing. Perhaps they will give him a fitness test over the weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a late change. If not then I hope we test out his dodgy shoulder :yep. Once you step over that white line you're classing yourself as fit and are fair game.

The match-ups in our backline are difficult if the Eagles start with 4 talls as named. * - We'll need Maric floating one kick behind the play if Cox pushes forward for the Eagles and play with a spare man in defence. I'm guessing that's Dea's role although I've never seen anything from him at either AFL or VFL level that makes me understand why those inside the Club rate him so highly  :huh.

We are going to need our midfield to win their share of the contested footy and clearances so to restrict impact of the Eagle tall forwards. If they get fed laceout passes under little pressure it could get ugly down back.

Up forward we can't allow Waters to roam around free picking off our inside 50 kicks as he's a good reader of the play. The focus will be on Jack, TV and Miller to see how they perform this week but we need our crumbers and small forwards to step up as well and be front and square at the fall of the ball.
