Cub earns stripes at Etihad (Herald-Sun)

In Good Call/Bad call they showed a member of our cheer squad holding her six month old baby while watching the game. They all agreed babies shouldn't be allowed in cheer squad as it's too dangerous a place behind the goals. A stray footy could have hit the baby in the head. You don't risk a baby's life.
This is what the 4 amigos on Footy Classified were talking about ....

Cub earns stripes at Etihad

BABIES at the football has become an issue.

There have been calls for more breast-feeding rooms and creches.

And this Richmond fan has been roundly criticised for sitting with the Tigers cheer squad at Sunday's game at Etihad Stadium with her bonnie babe in her arms (above).

The view from the commentary boxes was it was too dangerous for the wee bub to be in such a precarious spot behind the goals - at risk from flying footies as well as unruly fans.

We don't agree. Reckon mum can handle the risks and deserves a medal from Richmond for such devotion.

And you can bet baby will grow up to be a true Tiger.

Well said Chris de Kretser, I agree also.

I'm suprised Ralphy didn't write this one ;D
In all seriousness, it is the parents responsibility and they assume the risks involved.
I would agree it is more dangerous behind goals than say on the flank, but I'm sure the parents know that already.

I see plenty worse on the roads with mums (and Dads) texting on their phones with bub in the back seat
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

People sitting near her are going to be aware that she has a bub with her and avoid boisterously punching it in celebration unlike if it was just a full grown adult I am sure...
Lots of people name their swords......

Mr Owl is showing outstanding levels of logic today. Well done Owl. No ones gonna do anything untowards in that group of people. The media is full of morons looking for nothing stories to beat up and turn into epic events. The kid looks right at home in there amongst the Tiger Army anyway!

The bloody media will do anything for a story. I have unearthed the original unedited image which clearly shows the kid giving the "All good" signal.

I took my wife and baby to the footy, behind the goals on the 2nd level in the medallion club. She nearly got hit by a nick riewoldt goal. I'd like to think I was being a responsible parent by taking her with me, as opposed to having a babysitter for her.

This entire story is a load of poo. Agree with shooter

;D

I have it on good authority that the original unedited image also included the holding of an apple. Can you dig that up Tiga?

Nothing beats what I saw first hand at the G.

Round 1 2001 Melbourne V Richmond.

Was sitting with two mates in Q2 about half way up top level of the Southern Stand and me and my mates were not bothered to go downstairs for our smoke so we were having it where we were.

A couple with a newborn in a pram saw us and with the pram continued up to where we were sitting and beyond to the back of the stand and with the pram in tow lit up. :help

Not endorsing what I did with my mates but this lady on Sunday IMHO did nothing wrong.

Obviously a slow news day.  :sleep

Damo, I guess with Nick Riewoldt playing you could have been forgiven for thinking that behind the goals would be the safest place to be.  ;D
