Dreadful news for McGuanne, should of bloodywell been in the ones this week!

Great news for Post and Connors, maybe Post could be a forward...
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Wasn't Post originally recruited as a forward? Maybe its worth giving him a try until Vickers recovers from injury and a form slump.

He played as a forward before he was recruited from memory, I think we have tried him out up there before but he was too inconsistant.  He had big Plappspectations placed on his shoulders imo.

a write up courtesy of a foreign poster on BF.
Quote
Wheeler wheeled on to a 28 disposal effort including a nice 5 inside 50’s and 4 marks. White was by far my most favourite player of the match, for Coburg that is and he collected 23 touches, 6 marks, 12 one percenters as well as 8 inside 50’s. His presence was by far the most dangerous and he was very well at disposing effectively. Jayden Post had 15 touches but it was his 6 goal effort after 7 marks which saw him propel as a number one target up forward. Browne was phenomenal in the ruck and I must apologise for not being able to tell you how many hitouts he had but I can assure you he did very well. He also had 24 touches and 10 marks. Webberley was another favourite of mine. I loved his work rate and he seemed to be at the contest non-stop. I counted 26 touches for him with a delicious 6 inside 50’s. Despite kicking 4 goals and 1 behind, Connors disappointed me. He had 5 kicks and 2 handballs with 2 marks. For a player of his calibre, he had a very ordinary performance if you take the goals out of the picture. Just before the half, Angus Graham appeared to have retaliated to a little push by kicking North Ballarat’s Michael Searl in the private parts. A red card was shown and he was ejected from the field for the remainder of the match.
If you want any other stats, just ask and I’ll try give you what I can.

Post needs to be given a good run in the Richmond side. Look at Shoenmakers. How often does he get smashed and is still getting games so he can improve. Post played on a 201cm athletic forward Round 1 so it wasn't an easy job. Hampson only kicked 3 goals anyway

VFL: Roosters charge home against Tigers
BY MELANIE WHELAN
Ballarat Courier
13 May, 2012 11:59 PM

FINALLY – and emphatically – North Ballarat Roosters claimed the win they desperately needed.

It took an eight-goal final term to break back against Coburg and build a buffer for a 27-point victory, which delivered the Roosters’ second win this Victorian Football League season.

The Selkirk Roosters returned from a bye round having dropped five of their six opening matches, including a heart-breaking one-point loss to Casey a fortnight ago.

Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald said it was a fantastic win at Eureka Stadium that had so much weight attached.

“I think there was so much excitement because the pressure of needing to win added to everything,” FitzGerald said.

“The whole thing was compounded by a gut-wrenching loss to Casey two weeks ago when even though we lost by a point, there was four points up for grabs and we didn’t take them.

“We needed this win to stay in touch with the competition.”

FitzGerald said there was still plenty his team needed to analyse and learn from Saturday’s match to keep moving forward – but a strong response and win was a great step.

Coburg booted the first three goals of the match but the Roosters managed to work their way back in, helped by undisciplined acts by the Tigers under pressure.

The Tigers lost Richmond-listed key position player Luke McGuane for the match midway through the term with a knee injury.

Roosters playmakers Myles Sewell and Lachie George were particularly potent in the first half with Sewell on 21 disposals (including 16 in the second quarter) and George on 19 by the main break.

Play remained tight through the second half but the Tigers soon found themselves two-men down when ruckman Angus Graham was red-carded from the field for allegedly kicking Roosters’ defender Michael Searl with 25 minutes gone.

The Roosters then booted three unanswered goals to finish the term and take a 29-point lead into half-time.

This was soon whittled away.

Richmond-listed tall Jayden Post was moved from defence to play a key marking role up forward and booted five of his six goals.

Coburg had three goals on the board within the first three minutes – including two to Post.

Another two Post goals allowed the Tigers to snatch the lead inside 10 minutes back on the field.

FitzGerald said his team must look at how and why they let good leads – and momentum – slip so quickly.

Coburg played with more intensity, kicking with the breeze, from the outset of the third and were 10 points up at the final change.

The Roosters moved Searl on to Post, after his goal outburst, and the experienced defender managed to nullify the rampant Tiger.

FitzGerald was impressed with the way his team “arm-wrestled” through the final quarter to get the job done. The Roosters matched Coburg’s eight-goal to two third quarter by matching the effort.

North Melbourne-listed defender Aaron Mullett, dropped from AFL ranks this week, impressed with his commitment, running game and penetration. Mullett finished with 28 disposals.

Meanwhile, returned forward Paul McMahon booted four goals in his return from a hamstring injury.

McMahon, who has been sidelined the past five weeks, played 68 per cent game time and FitzGerald was pleased with his marking and kicking form.

Development coach Greg Mellor's summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at Coburg on Saturday.

Seniors

Todd Elton
Had a much quieter game, playing mainly as a key forward.  Didn’t have the same aerial influence he had the previous week, taking only two marks.  Will be looking for greater impact next match.

Matt Arnot
A solid performance from Matt, who is continuing to learn the half-forward role and is getting better each week.  It was particularly pleasing to see him kick a couple of goals, which is something he has been working on.

Brett O’Hanlon
His best game at VFL level.  He picked up 20 possessions on the wing and demonstrated that he is quite comfortable at this level of football. The challenge now for him is to build on this performance and replicate it week in, week out.

Jeromey Webberley
Picked up plenty of the ball, as per usual, but wasn’t as effective as he has been previously this season. He continues to work hard and is waiting for a position to open up for him in the Richmond line-up.

Addam Maric
Was a solid contributor, collecting 18 possessions playing through the midfield. When he had the ball, he used it well and was an effective player.  The team probably needed him to get a bit more of the ball and work harder defensively.

Ben Darrou
Was again quite reliable in his role as a key defender.  There are a couple of technical areas he needs to work on to take his game to the next level, but, overall, we are very happy with his improvement and progress so far.  An ankle injury hampered his performance and he came off at three-quarter time.

Piva Wright
Very similar to Ben Darrou in that he continues to improve each week and is now playing consistent VFL football.  Had a satisfactory game on the weekend, showing real class when he had the ball.  Is working on his defensive intensity and ability to close down his opponent.

Matt White
Had a good game.  He worked and ran tirelessly, collecting 23 possessions through the midfield.  His intensity at the ball and opponent was high and he finished with eight tackles.

Angus Graham
Was dominant in the ruck during the first half, before receiving a red card and being sent off the ground.  His ruckwork continues to be very strong, but it was also pleasing to see him take seven marks during the time he was out there.

Jayden Post
Struggled a bit at full-back in the first half, but was moved to the other end of the ground after half-time and produced a scintillating burst of football.  Finished with eight marks and six goals (five in the third quarter), and was responsible for getting Coburg back into the game and in a winning position.

Dan Connors
Had an outstanding first quarter, where he kicked three goals and should have had four.  Looked set for a big one, but, unfortunately, his body seized up.  Despite playing on for most of the game, his movement was restricted.

Luke McGuane
Unfortunately, he hurt his knee in the first quarter and took no further part in the game.  We are waiting on scans, but hope it won’t be too serious.

Andrew Browne
Had a terrific game, following his rotation into the development team the previous round, in search of greater game time in the ruck.  Finished with 23 possessions, 10 marks, 40 hit-outs and two goals.  His work-rate was outstanding in his best senior VFL game for the year.

Development Team

Tom Derickx
Had his turn spending time in the development team, to focus on developing his ruck skills.  Improved as the game wore on and finished with 47 hit-outs, which was a very pleasing result from our perspective.

Steve Verrier
Produced his best performance of the year, collecting 29 possessions through the midfield and wing.  The most pleasing aspect of his game was his ability to play to the structures he is being taught.  We are looking for him to continue to improve and work his way into the senior VFL side in the near future.
