Well done cracker. Great job.
The situation is stupid because we don't have a stand alone reserves team.
With your own team you develop them exactly how you want and when there's a need in the seniors they slot straight in to play the role they've been developed in.
We were supposed to do this asap but now we have signed with coburg for more years of mediocre development with the stupid situation that we have.

"we were supposed to do this ASAP" ? Er NO go back to the original posts when the FTF was launched and a stand alone VFL side was not at the top of the list. It was at number 4 or 5. Club made it very clear, debt first, investment in recruiting & development, being able to 100% of the cap & making sure we in a strong position for free agency were at the top of the list. Then it was stand alone VFL side.

The other thing you don't seem to realise or want to acknowledge is the fact that the club can not just say one day "we are fielding our own team next year"? They have to be issued with a license by AFL Victoria and AFL Vic have said that they don't plan on handing any new ones out outside of the bombers for 2013 until 2014

The club knows that the Coburg situation is not ideal, but until we get rid of our debt it will remain. Can't have a stand alone team if we can't afford it.

Tigers swooped by Seagulls

It’s back to the drawing board for Coburg after a 59-point loss against Williamstown at Whitten Oval today, in what has so far been a rollercoaster season.

The Tigers struggled to win the ball with the Seagulls controlling most of the play all day, using their space to create opportunities and taking advantage of Coburg’s turnovers and overuse of the ball.

Despite tightened defensive pressure and composure inside their 50 in the second and third quarters, the Tigers were unable to convert on the scoreboard and gain momentum, with the Seagulls striking back after each scoring opportunity.

Adamm Maric was dominant throughout the game, finishing with 34 disposals. He came up with one of the highlights of Coburg’s day when he set up a great goal for Tom Derickx by running the ball all the way from half back.

Matt White was also hard at it, picking up 23 disposals and laying seven tackles and clearing the ball in the midfield to create inside 50 opportunities for the Tigers on multiple occasions.

Brett O’Hanlon also had sticky fingers, taking 12 marks and proving to be a standout with 17 disposals and two goals. Jayden Post (16 disposals and one goal) and Angus Graham (18 disposals) also provided some positives for Coburg, as did Daniel Connors who was able to play out most of the game upon return from injury and pick up four goals.

Although Coburg lifted in the second half of the third quarter, creating more centre clearances with the help of fast paced Willie Wheeler and winning the inside 50’s with a more controlled forward line with the usual forward pressure from Nick Carnell, they couldn’t hold on in the last quarter.

The Tigers ran out of legs as Williamstown ran away with it, restricting the Tigers to only two goals in the final term.

Williamstown debutant, Anthony Anastasio proved unstoppable with his pace, as he ran on top of Coburg, picking up five goals and creating multiple opportunities in the Seagulls forward line.

Coburg will have two weeks off and will be hoping to get their season back on track when they take on Bendigo in Shepparton in Round 11.

surely the time has come to leave him there?

Has O'Hanlon been playing 3rds prior to this game? If so, why? He sounds like a very promising player.

Well he's not stuffing Shane Tuck is he? He is an outside goal sneak. Not a ball winner.

You really don't get it do you....  :banghead :banghead

How can they field their own VFL side without the proper funds? Do you have any idea how much it costs an AFL club to field its own VFL side? The licence fee on its own is about 3 times more that what the Coburgs of this world. Or do you simply ignore these little facts because it doesn't suit your case  :huh.

You'd be the first person complaining if the club went further into debt to do this

Unless of course you are going to pay for it? Got spare $$400-500k (that's the price the Cats have put on running their VFL saide) have you  :huh ::)
