so how much are you prepared to pay for him. as an restricted free agent we would have to offer him more money that collingwood can and as mercernary we would have to offer more than anyone else.

How much more his he worth than deledio?

You ask Lids if a ready made CHF is worth pursuing and I'm sure he would understand an inflated salary is a smallish price to pay for a shot at a flag.
Collingwood paid over the odds for Luke Ball and Darren Jolly - players can be sold the benefit if they can see the big picture.
Let's be a bit brazen here (BTW, he will sign with Magpies in the next few days but a good topic anyways!)
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

so how much more more  than deledio do you think he's worth, and how much more than deledio does delidio think he's worth?

Don't forget the cap increase by 600k next year, plus we have McGuane on a massive deal.

Cut Moore as well and we would have the room.

Exactly. I'm not surprised GWS have pulled out. They're further away than we are on the clock.

Didn't our downwards spiral start some 30 odd yrs ago by buying overpriced players from collingwood??
Yet. Here we are again and ppl are screaming to take him even though he is way overpriced??

Great player imo and probably just what we need right now in terms of player fit. But not at the cost on the back of the players who have taken cuts to stay together and work towards a flag.

Eff him and his old man what's his name again david blunt, stunt or that's it cloke... Sorry I always forgoet that one

No it started when Cloke left (along with Raines & Wood). Make no mistake losing David Cloke left a massive hole in our forward line. CHF's do not grow on trees!

Did this gun foward win a grand final off his boot? No he is a great mark but an average kick, Jack is better value as he scores more goals from fewer oppotunities and doesn't cost $1,000,000 per season. Using the moneyball principle we should analyse what Cloke brings, he takes more contested marks than anyone in the AFL but has an average conversation rate. All we need is someone who will kick as many goals as Cloke  not take as many marks. We should be able to achive this without spending $1,000,000.

Losing David Cloke?

Don't you mean David Cloke walking out on the RFC for more money left a massive hole in our forward line

only if your happy to over the odds for him.

Just putting it out there al, we do need a big name player IMO..would rather have a back man but I would also take a forward too.

We can afford him.

We do not need a big name player.

What we do need are players that can play at the elite level. big difference.

Memo to the club, do not spend a million dollars on Travis Cloke, totally over the odds.

Melbourne is the latest club named as chasing Cloke. It's claimed the Dees by front-ending contracts have banked up to $800k p.a. over 2010 and 2011 to now chase free agents.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/melbourne-has-salary-cap-room-to-chase-free-agents/story-e6frf9io-1226358220649
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/dogs-demons-in-hunt-for-cloke-20120516-1yrl8.html

So that's three clubs interested in Cloke - Melbourne, Bulldogs and Freo.

There was a lot more to his departure than just that and you know it.
