Dimma on 3aw just now with Lane, Caro, Richo and Malthouse.
* Asked about the hype and the lid coming off - it was a impressive win nevertheless but we can only control what goes on within the walls of Punt Rd.
* Tucky's been fantastic. Defensive side of the game wasn't great when Dimma arrived. He's had to take a step back to go forward working on that area of his game. We have a weekly pressure award and Tucky's won two already this year. Great bloke to have around the footy club.
* Griffs - a guy we've had big wraps but hasn't been able to have a run at it due to injury. His competitivenss is okay and he has good skills. Needs to build on yesterday. A similar player to O'Keefe from the Pies in that he's not a natural backman so he's taken time to develop in that position. You don't find skilled 200cm guys everyday of the week so we're pleased to have him.
* Unhappy with/areas to improve? Our communication at times. It cost us in the first 5-6 rounds. 8 min periods where the opposition would kick 3-4 goals. Good sides don't let themselves get hurt on the scoreboard by that much when the opposition is on top. Yesterday when Hawthorn had the momentum we were able to hold them up on the scoreboard which was pleasing.
* Defence - credit to Leppitsch with his work with Rance, Morris, Dea, etc. Gets guys to think not only about football but also their body position.
* New recruits Ivan, Morris? Cameron. Hartley, Jackson worked hard to bring guys who weren't getting opportunity but can play the game, add leadership and contribute to our side. At start of Dimma's tenure we spoke about what kind of guys we wanted. We wanted guys with good character who won't die wondering. You prefer guys with high character who never give up but with lower skill level to the opposite as they usually stand up in the heat of September. Malthouse agreed with Dimma.
* Ivan - Dimma always hoped he play well. When Jacobs went to Adelaide as a coach you always want to play the new guy so Maric wasn't getting the opportunity. There's still areas for him to work on but he is one of the reasons why our midfuield has gained dominance in the first 9 rounds.
* Learnt from Clarkson the most was to look outside the square about players and tactics. Clarkson likes soccer; Dimma hates it - yet Dimma loves basketball and Clarkson hates it. Learnt to bring things from other sports. If it helps your structures it's beneficial.
* St Kilda- hitting their straps last 3-4 weeks. A lot will be said about the midfield battle but we need to curtail their forward line - Riewoldt, Milne, Kosi. Sit down tomorrow with the boys and start the process of working out to beat them.
