CONSIDER these quotes from Bachar Houli:

"We've worked extremely hard over pre-season on our defensive side and believe that we can be right up there with the likes of Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and Hawthorn,'' Houli said.

"Believing in our ability doesn't come easy, but definitely everyone's up and about, week in, week out.''

They sound familar.

In fact, very similar to the comments from Richmond president Gary March on the eve of the clash against Carlton in Round 1.

March was smashed for comments which now seem to stack up.

"We have gone from being not sure we could compete to being pretty sure we can,'' he said back then.

"Does that mean we are going to win (against Carlton)? We would hope so. We would be bitterly disappointed if we didn't put up a good showing, but also for the rest of the season. We expect to be ultra-competitive this year.

"If you go through it on a statistical basis on the number of games played, we are coming into that window that says we should be able to compete with the top-eight sides consistently.

Nothing article - but March was spot on.  The boys have been ultra competitive this year.
