Carey: Richmond the real deal

In his review of Round 9, and look ahead to Round 10, WAYNE CAREY says Richmond has won him over: they are now the genuine article. The dual premiership captain also questions Hawthorn's mettle under pressure and, in the most open field for years, favours West Coast for the flag.

In his praise of the Tigers, Carey says ruckman Ivan Maric has been a cornerstone of the team's development this year, his strength and maturity helping give a young midfield first use of the ball. Carey says he likes the look of Alex Rance, who reminds him of a slightly bigger Duncan Kellaway, is a fan of Steven Morris' straight-ahead style in defence and applauds Shane Tuck for his career-best form.

While Jack Riewoldt clunked two big marks in the last quarter, and kicked six goals against the Hawks, Carey sounded a note of caution: most of Riewoldt's best work was done in junk time in the last quarter.

Look at them all jumping on board the wagon now....yet the same people will jump off just as quick if we start to lose. 'As fickle as a journalist' should be a saying surely  :P
