Footscray legend and their only Premiership Captain/Coach Charlie Sutton has passed away aged 88

Had the honour of meeting him in the last few weeks a true gentleman

RIP Charlie

Condolences to his family and the Footscray Football Club

A true legend of a time when even the mention of suburbs like Yarraville, Braybrook, Spotswood and Maidstone used to send a shiver down your spine.
These areas have now been mostly gentrified and have become a haven for cafe lovers, culture vultures and your square-rimmed glasses type. Is it just coincidence that the softening of these once tough suburbs has parallels with the decline in hardness in the Bulldogs over the last 30 years?

Met him when I was kid living in Footscray. He was a very humble bloke and everyone in the local area loved him.

RIP Charlie.
