A father claims he was severely bashed in front of his teenage son by a group of men that confronted him in a lift at Etihad Stadium last week.
Police have confirmed they are questioning a man in his 20s over the attack at the Docklands stadium last Friday night.
The attack is believed to have happened in the lift following the AFL game between Richmond and St Kilda.
Advertisement: Story continues below The man is believed to have been standing in the lift with his 17-year-old son when the men, who had been ejected from a bar inside Etihad Stadium, stepped into the lift with them, 3AW reported.
The man claims one person in the group confronted him and asked: "What are you looking at?"
He was then bashed so severely that his right eye was swollen shut.
A police spokesman said a man in his 20s had been questioned over an alleged assault at the stadium last Friday night. He was was released while further investigations were being made.
An Etihad Stadium spokesman confirmed an incident had happened on the concourse outside the stadium, just after midnight following Friday night’s game.
He said stadium management was helping police with the investigation and had provided CCTV footage of the confrontation to police.
