So who takes Foley's role?
« on: June 08, 2012, 01:46:52 PM »
Foley has been playing more as an inside ball winner this season who then spreads beautifully and links up well to get it into the better ball users hands. Who will go into the stoppages and take this role?

Foley's role is a inside mid who can also burst away. For some reason I can see Dimma going with Titch.

Personally i would put O'hanlon on the forwrd line and leave Maric as sub and run Conca in Foley's spot..  That leaves Dea in defence and Nahas and Edwards in the forwrd line..  This gives us a slightly taller forward line as well.  Then when the time comes we sub in little Maric for the extra pace in the 2nd half..

If its pouring rain we go for the smaller forward line

Dea back means Conca can run through the middle.

I reckon Conca will dominate tomorrow, a real break out game.

Agree. Then Foley will be back and we will be thinking where the stuff do we put Foley.  :pray

Foley's actually a big out, he has been one of our form players. Our midfeild depth will get a little challenge this Sat.

Agree that Conca will be the man. Edwards I see him as being grooved for this small forward crumbing roll which he has been doing well of late

Conca was having extra shots at goal at training today.
Think that he might play forward to cover Jake King ?

I wonder if they'll try mini Maric in the middle.  That's where he was starring for Coburg, wasn't he?

Conca. Has the ability to win the hard ball. Leave Edwards up forward

Amaric is more a winger/hff @ coburg this year. I think, dont think hes playing in the tuck/foley role. Id like to see ellis and conca fill the void. I see ellis/conca/martin long term starting mids allowing our best to play forward.

I fear he is too outside to replace foley. Id love to see ohanlon start the game in the forward line.

Yes Conca probably is the best choice. Mini Maric is not hard enough imo and Edwards is also too slight. Conca is still lacking in the core strength you gain from multiple preseasons and experience but I can't think of anyone else who could get on the bottom of the packs and win the ball. Perhaps Dusty will be given this role more for this game? Tuck and Cotch will need to work even harder than normal to compensate with Cotch up against the best tagger in the competition  :-\
