They show the 'contact' and 'free' in the foxsports highlights clip [click on video in link below and goto 0.50 min]

My thought was the Giants player was backing into him and giving him a bit of elbow and he was giving him a bit right back telling him to get off.

I've been watching the game for over 40 years, and I have to say that was the softest, stupidest, most ridiculous free kick I have EVER seen. When they put the replay up, I was waiting for some footage of Batch either thumping him, putting him in a headlock, or pushing him to the ground. COME ON  UMPIRE! That pushy-shove-y stuff happens between players a hundred times a game, ignore it FFS. You wonder why I HATE them so much :banghead

Mind you I would have to do that for about two hours to have the same IQ as that umpire.

The game is not about you guys, get out of it.

if they pay that all day, every week the game comes to a grinding standstill...one of the worst decisions in the history of the game (and that includes us hiring Terry Wallets & taking Tambling before Franklin.......)

With you on this one Roycey! Imagine having a friendly argument with a Rugby league supporter about which game is tougher and then that happens?

We have the best game in the world yet it seems we are hell bent on ruining it.

The umpires can call a free under rule 15.4.5(e) of the rule book:
Prohibited contact and payment of a free kick.(e) pushes, bumps, holds or blocks an opposition Player when the football is further than 5 metres away from the opposition Player or is out of play;

So TECHNICALLY speaking the umpire was correct.

So why don't they pay all these niggles all of the time?

INCONSISTENCY is what is killing the game!

What's ridiculous though is that straight after it, Batch was doing the same thing with his shoulder in front of the same maggot to prove a point.

You can twitter @AFL to query any umpiring decisions from the weekend. Put the #YourCall hashtag at the end of your tweet.

No free kick. Disgraceful decision.
