Seriously
He doesn't play on the opposition best tall forward and probably takes there 3rd tall
Does his job
Last minute of play his effort to free up to the running Morris was superb
We don't have a replacement for him anyway

Because he's a poo truck. Hasn't got the mobility to play 3rd tall and is stealing the spot from someone like Grimes who is suited to it

I think there is better chemistry with Rance/Grimes/Chaplin than any combination which involves Astbury.

Having said that I hope both Troy and David are shown the door at the end of the year.

Lets face it ....Astbury does not have another level to go to.

Hopefully the club can recruit a ready made key defender who is AFL standard.

Disagree. Rance, Grimes and Astbury have played limited time together and therefore have not had a chance to build up a chemistry. There is absolutely no chemistry between Chaplin, Rance and Grimes- a classic example of this was when Franklin goaled in the absence of Rance. Chaplin knew Rance was not on Franklin at the time and should have covered for Rance but he did not. Astbury clearly has more upside to Chaplin but I accept that unless Astbury produces this year he will be delisted.

He dropped countless gettable marks(even Brian Taylor made mention of this) and laid a clumsy tackle which led to a goal to the Swans. His game against the Swans was poor.

Was happy to get Chaplin to the club especially as a free agent. I had hopes that we finally had a bloke with the right physical attributes 195/100  to play 1v1 on the real big key fwds.

In his days at P/A he had performed this role at times and did okay.  but he mostly played as a third tall type. How foolish of me to think we could teach this bloke to play to what should have been his strengths. After so long playing a certain way i should have known he would not change.
His first year or honeymoon period was decent for us. There after  the things that had P/A supporters jumping up and down did not take too long to manifest themselves with us.

For me he is one of the most disappointing recruits we have had. He is slow soft unaccountable and has woeful footskills.
The only thing more disappointing is the fact that we have not had better options to replace him. In fact we have managed to ignore a critical list weakness since before Chaplin came.

For all his flaws, Astbury's match last night was superior to anything Craplin's served up since 2013.....took some impressive marks under pressure....

Astburgers seems to have good strength and a decent pair of mitts. Decision making and speed are the concerns.
