In reference to you WP maybe we can present a blueprint to the VFL where we can use Punt Rd 5-6 times a year for home games before a Saturday 2:15 start for four of them.

I'll present another scenario. Richmond as a home team play a Twilight Game at 4:40pm on a Saturday.

The curtain raiser can be the VFL match of the day at 1pm on TV at Punt Rd lets say RFC vs a traditional old VFA club like Port Melbourne. VFL can have their sponsors around the ground as can the RFC 2nds as can the RFC as can the AFL get free spruiking on the ABC for VFL games.

Furthermore the VFL crowd will be larger than normal given the amount of people at the game who will go to the G. Fans can then have a better look at our prspects and now how they are travelling.

In the above scenario win win win for all parties involved.

Even if we had a Sunday twilight a 1 pm start for the VFL would be a great day at the footy.

This break away from Coburg is the best thing for the RFC. :thumbsup

As an AFL list comprises of certain amount of players..will the reserves team draw on non Richmond listed players as well?or does an AFL list cover this?

they make up the remainder of their vfl list with players who are not on the Richmond list

I wonder if Coach is up for a comeback?

 :lol

Guess who is pulling the boots back on in 2014 boys. I always wanted to play for Richmond :lol

Will Coburg make it to the end of 2013?
It would be difficult to see them staying in the VFL after the affiliation is over i would think.

I mean will they last until the end of the alignment or will we end up going alone next year anyway?

Coburg seem to be in a fairly shaky position already and I can't imagine this announcement will help.

Are they going to pay the license fee in one cent pieces?
It's that simple Spud

Seriously though how do they fund it?

They receive over a million bucks a year from the AFL, that's the only way they make a profit.

So how can they justify spending money they don't have to field a VFL side?

Perhaps we should put our hand out to Andy D and ask them to fund ours

Yep it's rubbish, how are they possibly going to fund this? Put themselves in debt without a care in the world as they know the afl will keep them afloat. peees you off when you see how hard we've had to work to get our own side and we are a lot better resourced than that rabble

My concern is not them fielding a team, but the fact that we will be playing on sub standard grounds. According to SEN yesterday they will host games at whitten oval plus a variety of other grounds.
Where are these other grounds and are they up to a decent standard.
Last thing we want is player getting injured on their shi tty grounds

Maybe so but for them that's moving to the Nought level of existence.
Guarantees mid table mediocrity with an occasional finals appearance and if their lucky a prelim once every 15-20 years.
They'll start coining Scragger spirit and then go as far and go back to calling themselves Footscray in a last ditch effort to retain some sort of sovereignty as was the case with Nought who went for a while under the name of Kangaroos changed their club song and everything else.
Stuff them its what makes them sad and sorry footy clubs.

The key words being **** grounds like the Whitten Oval. I remember speaking to a tigers fan in 1993. He had broken his leg after slipping on effluent at the whitten oval that year
