A chance there might be Richmond ressies games at Punt Rd next year according to Benny Gale.

-------------------------------------

Richo: A huge positive coming up next year with Richmond having its own reserves side playing at our own Punt Rd Oval. How exciting is that for us?

Gale: It's really exciting, mate. It's not rocket science. It's something we identified early on as a priority but we didn't have the luxury to do it. The Fighting Tiger Fund and our improved business gives us the confidence and means to do that. To have our own reserves is big enough. Huge impetus to our development program for our players. But to play them here at Punt Rd will be even better. Now we're not quite there yet. Got to get Punt Rd to a stage where it's fit and able to have crowds with all the proper amentities and it's safe. We sort of put all the money into the oval so we need to raise funds to get the other parts of the oval [done].

Richo: How confident are you about getting football at Punt Rd next year?

Gale: I'm reasonably confident but I can't say for sure. We are still working on putting the funds together to make that a reality.

Richo: So what do you need to do to get it up to scratch? The grandstand and some infrastructure around?

Gale: Yeah! The Jack Dyer Stand needs improvements; the terracing and standing room in front of the Jack Dyer Stand. We need to provide some amentities for supporters - toilets facilties, scoreboard, turnstiles to regulate who goes in and out. So these sort of things don't sound like much but they do add up. We've got some irons in the fire. As I said, we're got a reasonability of confidence that we'll have the ressies here [Punt Rd] next year but we've got some work to do.

All our VFL news will be released in November - home ground, jumper, players, facilities, etc.

We're working hard behind the scenes to get it all ready for that launch.

Interesting to see what the jumper is going to look like, seeing it isn't going to be our traditional guernsey

On page 74 of today's Herald-Sun, Jon Ralph says Richmond needs the Punt Road upgrade to meet VFL and Melbourne City Council standards to host VFL games. He says it will cost $1 million and have a capacity of 5,500.

He also quotes Benny Gale from the interview on the RFC website - "We are still working towards getting the money, and we are going through our budget for next year, but we are not far away from getting to the point where we hope to press the button".

maybe if the players held their end of the bargain and beat carlton we wouldn't have to try and "find the million" it would've fell into our hands
