Sack Clarke

immediately. How many VFL players have stepped up the seniors on a regular basis?

Paul Amy @PaulAmy375 twitter:

Bendigo's Jake Aarts, so well regarded by Aussie Jones, locked in at Richmond VFL for 2015. Joins Gold teammate Tyrone Downie at Punt Rd.

He was wanted by a few VFL clubs but talk is that ex-Blue Jaryd Cachia is heading for Richmond. Excellent pick-up for the Tigers.

hmm based on most games last yr and favorites of dimmas  this is how the ressies should look minus vfl listed players.

fb/  rookie pick  - grimes - nd pick
hb/ mcintosh - elton - dea

c/  nd pick - thomas - lennon
r/ hampson - knights - arnot

hf/ gordon - nd pick  - mcdonough
ff/  lloyd - mcbean  -  nd pick

int/ rookie  - roookie - rookie - rookie.

reckon hardwick will go chaplin rance and astbury.  grimes may play in front of astbury but that was not the case last yr when he was fit. to me thats the options grimes, chaplin, astbury and rance, its not a healthy situation imo.

to me grimes is an okay player nothing special and needs to add to his game. i also have some other issues with him but again i wont go there it just makes the topic degenerate.  im looking for better but atm replacing grimes is not a priority. i really believe we cant afford to cut too many talls atm, the opposite is true we need to add to what we have.

the only area i think we have covered when it comes to talls is fwd / rucks. i  have stated fairly regularly that we can afford as afar list numbers go to offload one of griffiths, vickery or mcbean. i know which one i would have traded out. in doing so i would have  used the pick to target a quality tall fwd type that we dont have.

I would consider playing Grimes along with Rance, Astbury and Chaplin.

He's only what, 6'4? And with his leg speed he could probably play small/med defender.

Grimes needs to bring back the golden fist.

Yeah he does play small at times.  When we had all 3 of astbury, Rance and Chaplin he played small. We have and will play him regardless of whether there are 3 talls already in

“I go and speak to Damien about what we want our VFL and AFL side to look like – what type of player you want,” Clarke told Matthew Richardson on Roar Vision.

“There’s no point going to get a player to come and play for us, and then Damien saying I don’t want that type of player playing the Richmond style.

“We’ve got to be aligned with what the senior coach wants, and the expectations, then we go and try and find the best fit.

“Our main drawcard is always character.  If we can get a good guy in who can also lead and play some good footy, it’s really going to help our boys.

“We need to find the right guys who can make our players on the Richmond list better.

surely the #1 priority has to be getting the right numbers and types to enable you to
1/ have good list structure
2/ have good depth in all areas
3/ have all of the  seperate areas of development covered. ie talls mediums smls  juniors 18 - 21, development 22 - 24. mature 25 - 28 and some vets 29 plus.
4/ be able to mirror in the reserves  the exact structure you have set up in the seniors.
i mean to say if your constanrt senior set up is 3 tall fwds, 3 tall def, 9 mids, 1 or possibly two ruckmen  with all up  5  or  so specialist  sml med  def and sml med fwds then you need to at the very least have the correct numbers in each area on the list and at least in development.

our overall list is nothing like this and we wonder why we lack so terribly in so many areas.
will say it one more time we should have at least
16 talls including ruckmen
18 genuine mids
10 flankers or specialist sml medium types. you  could cut a few in this area if you have mids who can play on the flanks and play well. and we do have our share of mids who can play on the flanks.

ffs this character bull poo has gone too far
enough quality and good list structure is first and foremost anything else is an excuse for failing. funny mitch robinson is worth looking at yet whats his character like.

cant directly answer that Claw, but we have secured a couple of ex Bendigo Gold lads, Tyrone Downie & another whose name escapes me.

Hopefully Pat Contin can get on the park this year - class above most of our other VFL players and was missed last year IMO. pee off the likes of Barlow & Batsanis - bloody awful players. In fact Wall & Wynne are about the only two I'd keep from this year. Pipe dream of course - but would've been nice if we could've talked one of Ball, Sewell or O'Keefe into running around for at least another year as a VFL-listed player to lead the kids.

Just Downie from Bendigo Gold I think, Jaryd Cachia delisted rookie from Carlton/Northern Blues is the other one isn't he?
