Some intriguing KPP prospects in this bunch.

Does anyone know the rules around Cat-B? There’s seemingly a few late converts and NZ born players that may be eligible for the second Cat-B spot if it becomes available next season (as I understand we have a full list as it currently stands).

A good result for VFL stand-alone clubs. They've gained approval to increase their list sizes to 42 (14 must be under the age of 22). And AFL stand-alone and aligned clubs can list two more development players. Means quite a few more opportunities for aspiring young footballers.

I understand VFL fixture could be out by the end of the week but no venues and times will be on the fixture. Likely only know venues/times a week or two in advance of games

Sunday night and Monday night footy to be the norm for VFL in 2022.

Under The new covid rules AFL teams must play AFL games before their VFL games this season.

Good chance of 2 Sunday night and 2 Monday night games in round 1. Possibly a high profile VFL team may be playing in Sydney or Monday night in round 1. Very strong rumour.

Who likes games on Sunday nights or Mondays.
The AFL have stoped listening to the supporters and now run the game as a business / political organisation

Southport?
Interesting isnt it.
They are one of the richest clubs in the country (including AFL clubs), but surprising have a QLD team in the comp.

Also, is 4 byes enough ? LOL

Extremely young list of vfl players.
Theres Morris at 33, then the rest are all 24 or under with just the one 24yo.

Hopefully blokes like Pickett Caddy Short Castagna Parker  Aarts McIntosh are regular two,s players to provide a bit of leadership maybe a few of the vets get forced out as well.

It is a 21 team comp.  :gobdrop

Suns, Lions, Giants and Swans are all in the comp

It is farcical, rather than all the byes how about just having each team play each once

Interestingly, Ch7 news reported tonight that an AFL reserves comp is again being discussed

With the dearth of tall/key forwards on the list id say two of Brindley, Jorgenson, Tucker, and Scanlon will play most games.

Some will not be happy with this but id be very tempted to go with a  centre line   at the start of the year for VFL with

C: D Rioli - Caddy - Pickett. and id have McIntosh in the backline.  Id be very tempted to play Brown, Ralphsmith and Mansell in their place and Caddy stays put.

Always an interesting exercise trying to do the reserves team and a hard job to pick one with good structure and with a decent age demographic.

AFL were stupid and idiotic not getting Southport involved as the Gold Coast team as they were already a well established team.

Apparently the AFL thought the fans of the other QAFL clubs on the Gold Coast wouldn't get behind a Southport AFL team. So they went for a new team for the whole region instead after North said no to relocating.
