where to now?
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:18:29 PM »
With a fair bit of pride at stake, especially against carltank next week, what do we want to see in the remaining games this season? Cotch to keep dominating? Or others like conca given sustained opportunity to prove themselves?
Some blokes like Browne, Graham, derricx, webberley given one last chance?

Good question,
Imo I think we should continue to do what we've been doing- try to win each and every game. Winning is and striving to win are important for good culture.
Fringe players like post, mcguane etc to keep ther spots if deserved or bugers if not, let's try to make something of their services if possible.

Miller, graham webberley bide their time at coburg until we cut em loose.

Derikx- not sure, have not seen enough
Browne, have not seen enough. Could he alternate with ivan in a foward/ruck role? Or is he one trick pony?
Don't blood verriers/wrights just yet wait till next season

We won't make the finals now so back to development mode. Play the list and rest any players who are carrying niggles as preparation for preseason and 2013. If Ivan is carrying a groin then why risk him trying to manage him through the whole remaining 6 weeks.

Now you must play people that could be part of our future: aarnot, elton etc.

Rather than folks that should not: graham. Jackson. Miller. Mcgaune.

This should of happen six weeks ago. Or dare i say round1.

That's the biggest issue I had with Hardwick and I was right

Came back to bite him big time now trying to blood youngsters at the same time

You tell me how would playing Brett O and Elton fair any worse than Miller and Jackson

The club needs to aggressively recruit depth to cover the injuries that occur during the season given the high impact nature of the game. It will be an important aspect to keep players fit and well - but also recruit durable, hard & tough players that can put some consistent games together.

I am not sure of the practice of playing injured players - if they cannot contribute 100% and play poorly they are just a disadvantage to the team. For example Vickery was supposedly injured most of the 7 games he played this year - basically did nothing but the club comes out and says that they have been managing a shoulder injury??? A tall marking forward playing with a dud shoulder does not make sense?? And most people expect that once you cross the line, barring injury during the game you give it 100%.

No no I got told yesterday after the game that if we win our next 6 games we will play finals

I said that means we have to rely on others losing I then got told NO; other teams results will have no bearing and I was wrong

So clealry I am clueless

Terrific, just terrific

I am not a fan of the big T. I can see why people like the idea but we need to keep winning and help build a winning culture at the place. When blokes at Coburg start knocking the door the down for a game, then sure give them one. But to tank now would mean playing blokes that don't deserve a game, we'll get a smashing and the loser culture will be reinforced through the new generation.

I feel that it is crucial that we push on to win as many games as possible for the rest of the year. I agree that giving kids games is vital to our future, but so is cultivating a winning culture. Ending the year with a few losses would cause the boys heads to drop and head into preseason with a 'here we go again' sort of attitude. Also, the amount of wins we have each year acts as a benchmark for which the following season's progression can be measured, and acts as a challenge to knock off last year's result. So I would much rather this benchmark being 10-11 wins than say 8 or 9. As improvement on the former would most likely result in a finals berth or atleast a better crack at it than we will hav this year.

Yep let's tank
I'm off to the snow with demon supporters
Why waste my time with the under achieves
Dimwit wants 17rds
That would make us 7-9 after 16 which still puts us off the pace
I'm sick of half baked excuses from Halfwit it's time for Benny Fale to move the youth worker on to Coburg as an apprentice

Win every game from here is what they should do to make up for that crap they have served up the last 2 weeks. Finals is off, unless we get some assistance from other clubs (results).

dunno if throwing a lot kids in just to get belted is the way to go.
for sure play as many kids as possible but keep our structures etc so we remain at least competetive.
what i would hate to see is we play a lot of blokes whos futures are short term at the expense of kids no benefit in that win lose or draw.
