Ruck Bounce Rule Clarification
« on: July 24, 2012, 03:21:56 PM »
I thought that if the umpire bounced the ball and it did not come down within say 3-5 metres, it was to be recalled?

This relates directly to the Tuck free kick for grabbing it out of the ruck - because as I recall it looked as if the ball was bounced adjacent to the middle of the left hand point and goal post and the free kick was paid in front of goal on the other side?

Anyway Goldstein's arm clearly made contact with Tuck's head as well  - the punt road end fans were were going nuts saying it should have been recalled or pay Tuck the free?

I'm not sure of the rule?

Regardeless of the rule, it went to the advantage of the richmond players opposition.
Anything against our club in a do or die situation is above board  ::)

i think that it is only center bounces that are recalled.

But YandB started another thread based on this rule.

Section 15 subsection 2.3.c of the Laws of Football states as follows ; a Player who takes possession of the football while contesting at a bounce or throw by a field umpire or at a boundary throw in , shall be regarded as having had prior oppotunity except in the instance of a poor bounce or throw.

pretty clear cut the umps stuffed up.

i too was screaming for head high on tuck at the time.

imbeciles!

What I've noticed this year they dont seem to be recalling many crap bounces this year at all

They just do the "flappety flap" and yell "play on"
"Oh yes I am a dreamer, I still see us flying high!"

from the song "Don't Walk Away" by Pat Benatar 1988 (Wide Awake In Dreamland)

In this instance the "flappety flap" and "play on" would have been welcomed  :banghead :banghead This free cost us the game!

Take your pick on which free kick cost us the game, there were a few.  They were falling over themselves to find them against us.

Owl, change your name to "I think the only reason we ever lose is because of umpires".
